Incidentally, I find myself in a different city where there are surprisingly numerous stray dogs. Some are quite loud and a few outright scary.
i am a vig scaredy cat about stray dogs in general though so i may be overreacting a bit.

Personally i dont mind the occasional see it once a week peaceful dog, but these that seem ti be at every other corner and braking at everyone seem more of a hazard.

Whats your view on them? is it a problem ans how would you solve it?

In the meantime, if anyone has any bulletproof and biteproof pants, pm me :p

See Felix for some pants, he'll see you right ;)

As for strays, we don't get so many over here so they're not a real issue. I have spent time in other countries where they are everywhere and roam around in packs as nature in tended them; which can be quite intimidating.

When I travelled around Thailand I adopted a stray for a week or more on Koh Samui, I called him Blinky due to his nervous twitching.. He was wonderful that dog, he looked like shit due to a hard life but he was so friendly. Followed me everywhere, would sit outside shops, restaurants and bars waiting for me then stroll back to my hotel room. Put some food out for him and he'd curl up on the porch waiting for the morning.. Then we'd go for an early morning walk down the beach, aŕrh, good ol'Blinky. Broke my heart to leave him :(

So yeah, strays.. dunno, my stray dog was grand..

I grew up on a council estate and on the walk across it to my Nan's there were three big bastard strays that used to roam and it was always guaranteed to bump into at least one of them (I used to throw my sandwiches to em and leg it) this was nearly everyday

Make a cayenne pepper and tabasco water solution, put it in a small spray bottle, mist them when they approach you. Doesn't hurt them but they smell it a mile off and start associating you with it.

Other end of spectrum, feed them and they will be nice to you, or tear your pockets out...not sure which....dogs dont usually bite for no reason. Maybe you are possessed and they pick up on your beelzebub vibes ?

Not sure about the demon vibes, i check my possesion status every year by visiting the local holy places, just to be sure and secure a place in heaven(s)

The cayenne pepper tabasco solution seems grand! I had read about pepper able to turn dogs away from peeing on your fence but his might be a good thing! Perhaps ill put it on my shoes if it isnt too smelly for people

I haven't seen a stray dog since I was a kid. We used to have a few that ran about. People were very nice to them.

I remember one little ginger dog called Pepper. I used to get him a cheesecake from the bakery on my way home from school. I'm thinking now that, because he had a name, he probably wasn't stray. His owner probably just let him out to roam about during the day.

Make it harder for people to buy them in the first place - Capture and neuter / release. There are some areas where packs of dogs have attacked people - in those areas there is a shoot on site policy and poison bait is left out :(.
