Heroin Strange skin reaction to IV heroin. Starting to worry

just recently (as in past couple weeks) every time SWIM does a shot (tar) their skin breaks out in like red hives all over their face, kneck, chest and stomach. They will disappear about 75% overnight, but remnants of them are still visible on face and chest, but by this time they are more like skin colored bumps/hives and less red, but as soon as SWIM does another shot, they come back. This remains consistent with every batch tried from multiple people, so I doubt it is just some random cut reaction. This has never happened in all the years SWIM has used, and doesn't know if they should be worried or what. Any advice would b greatly appreciated.
 
you know this sounds like something that happened to me when I first started to IV my heroin I would get a syringe full, tie a tourniquet, and shoot it... THEN I would take the tourniquet off. shortly after big splotches of red raised skin would start to appear all over the arm I was shooting in. I soon found out that it was because I was leaving the tourniquet on while I shot up, it would burst my vein (I've had this confirmed by 2 doctors) so I'm not quite sure why it would be all over your body, (mine was just on my arm) but that could be a reason why that's happening...

that's what was causing mine, I don't know your shooting techniques so I can't say for sure that's what it is but that's just my 2 cents.

But this happened to me for some reason when I started using white grapefruit juice to potentiate the previous night, accompanying the rush with the most horribly intense itching I've ever experienced for 5 seconds or so

Any new medication?
 
What you're getting is a histamine reaction, it's the same thing that causes nausea when you take opiates. If you're shooting tar, it could be caused by a higher concentration of unconverted morphine/codeine in your current batch, or another alkaloid which causes a stronger histamine release than proper heroin (diamorphine). Or it could just be your body's reaction to the drugs changing, that happens.

Either way, the best way to avoid this effect is to take an antihistamine medication about 30 minutes before taking your heroin. Diphenhydramine (benadryl) is common, but I'd recommend doxylamine succinate if you can get it OTC in the States. Just be careful, antihistamines will compound the sedative effect from the heroin, so you might want to take a little less heroin than usual if you combine them.
 
Definitely an allergic reaction. I always thought it was because of the cutting agents used in dope, but I don't know if that applies to tar or not.
 
Yep as other people mentioned, a definite histamine reaction. Anything having to do with rashes or red skin is without a doubt a histamine reaction of some sort.

Take it from someone with bad allergies.
 
I love it when we get SWIMS. Especially on sugh hot and humid days like this one...

ive read in other forums about histamine reactions, but im not totally sure thats what it is... It is not just from one batch, or 2 batches, it is from every different batch tried from several different people across 2 different states.It takes hours and hours to go away, and a few days ago SWIM had 2 days clean and it still wasnt completely gone... Could SWIM be somehow developing an allergy to heroin/opiates? or could it be a symptom of something with SWIM's blood or something SWIM needs to worry about? It is literally all over SWIM's face, neck, chest and stomach and usually by the time the next morning comes, it is mostly cleared up, but remains lightly on face and neck. Hoping somebody out there can know what theyre talking about and say there is nothing to worry about...

What is puzzling/worrying me is the fact that this has never happened before in 15+ years of using and is now happeneing every time SWIM does a shot, of any quality dope from anyone. SWIM agrees it is time to stop. Another Ibogaine session is in near future. That is what kept SWIM clean for the longest period of time in her entire life.

Heroin may be cut with inert or toxic adulterants such as sugars, starch, powdered milk, quinine, and ketamine. Heroin is often mixed with methamphetamine or cocaine (“speedball”) and injected; or co-administered with alprazolam, MDMA (Ecstasy), crack cocaine, or diphenhydramine.

Its almost certainly an allergy rash caused by histamine release, in turn caused by the opiates.
Unfortunately the body can become allergic to a substance its had no issue with in the past.
Histamine rashes arent dangerous unless swelling starts to affect the face or neck, in which case medical assistance is advised.
Your options are pretty slim, either take antihistamines or stop taking the heroin...thats basically it im afraid.
 
Yeah SWIM cant disagree with whats being said but from personal experience this usually happens when taking a shot and SWIM fails to loosen up tie, then when tthe shot is succesfully entered the tie is taken off (which should of been done before shot was taken) and the hives and itch start presenting it self.
 
why would anyone use Ketamine to cut herion

I break out really bad in blisters if I take any kind of opiate or subs or tramadol I break out on my face neck and chest in blister like hives kinda. but I saw a comment that people use ketamine to cut herion why would anyone use an expensive wonderful chemical to cut herion makes no sense
