You exist in a place in my mind
Of textured winds singing of red ochre sands,
Waving over a cliff that lives in a horizon
That is only to be seen when our hearts are free.
I blind my eyes to the world around me
And the layers of your voice
Carry me off to the place of forgetting,
Of living, of knowing, of dancing in a storm.
There's a wildness in your eyes that
Seems to know of only truth, and yet
There's denial in your sighs telling me
How long it has been since someone touched your face.
Arms to keep me warm and hands to hold me on the ground
But I'd rather your smile take over my mind
And a brush of your lips remind me of warm rains,
For here in this desert that you created for me
There is dryness and a heat that makes me heavy.
Don't leave me alone to search for water,
I seek not the answer to be found in an oasis of illusion.
I want not an explanation that comes of reason or logic,
I prefer instead a thirst that I know to be real.
A thirst quenched when there is no more loneliness, less you, less me, more us.
Bring me to the cliff, and I will bring you to silence.
