Storing Codeine after CWE?

Just a few (hopefully) quick stupid question...

If one were to do a relatively large-scale AC&C CWE of codeine (keeping track of the C concentration/ml and paying very close attention to purity) could this resultant liquid supply be store indefinitely in some sort of air-tight glassware in a refrigerator to be sampled as needed? Would the concentration remain homogenous over weeks or months? Or if one is interested in long-term storage is evaporating the water and sealing the powder away somewhere the way to go? Would the resulting powder be pure codeine (assuming we found a way to remove the caffeine from the mix) and could doses just be determined by weight?

How are you measuring purity out of curiousity? Liquid storage is bad news in general. In alcohol (maybe bacteriostatic water if you are very clean) the codeine salt will be okay for a little while in the cold and dark, but it is not a viable means of long term storage. Think of industry standard cough syrup containing codeine with the assistance all those preservatives and how it would deal with being left in a glass container indefinitely.

You'll want to recrystallize to the solid salt after the extraction as you said. Start small scale to test.

Errr if you removed everything but the codeine phosphate then yes you would be left with just codeine phosphate?
