Stopping smoking :(

Had to stop smoking as of yesterday...

very sad day for me

i love it! loved amsterdam as well, but going to have to quit.

After losing my appetite and losing quite a lot of wieght and feinting a bit...i've had to stop as my parents are now noticing.

My last attempt at not having to do this is asking you guys what I can do about staying healthy, active, not being lazy and having an appetite whilst still blazing...

or is this not possible? :'(

if u smoke heavy duty it will start to have these effects.

even worse, if u smoke heavy u will need to smoke it before u are able to eat properly on any given day.

being healthy/active/not lazy AND smoking weed?
i hate to break it to u, but thats kinda impossible, its actually a paradox lolz.

u would have to only smoke at the very end of each day of being healthy/active (VERY HARD) or keep it to weekends (I CANT DO THIS).

my advice, seriously, i know u wont like this... quit smoking for JUST a month or 2 (takes 6weeks to deffo clear it out ur system). it will be hard, but will eventually give u good results.

It's actually very easy - like you say just smoke at the end of the day or on weekends. If you're stoned all day you won't get anything done but a bit of willpower and you'll be fine. A weed habit is really easy to control compared to most other drugs.

And yeah, having no appetite is pretty odd to say the least...something strange going on there.

i'd like to go ahead and disagree with pretty much everything you stated in this post.

heavy smokers do not HAVE to smoke before eating. it is not a necessity to have an appetite.

you CAN be healthy/active/not lazy and smoke weed, even while you're smoking and/or being high from smoking.
 
I used to be really skinny while smoking a lot, because my diet was very bad. Additionally weed just makes me lazy to eat, it sounds weird but hey. It takes effort to cook a nice meal, or to pick something up from somewhere. It's easier to just boil some noodles (no nutrition) or something like that. All that and not eating breakfast made me very skinny.

I don't know if you're the same way, but I don't really like to eat most things anyway. I mostly eat to keep up my weight and be healthy, not for the flavor. Does that make sense?

You can try just forcing yourself to eat a few small meals per day. After a while, you will not be forcing yourself because you will feel hungry if you skip the meal. The more you eat the more hungry you will be. Then just keep eating at least 3 nice sized meals per day. Have you tried weight gaining shakes?

About staying active and healthy: once I get into a rhythm and start to feel good, and know it is because of my diet and exercise, I get a lot of motivation from that. At least that works for me.

Most smokers who have moved beyond the whole "weed is gods magic medicine" would disagree with you and would certainly attest that weed is a drug with adverse side effects. If it didn't it would be flawless as a drug, and its not.

I know better than to try to argue this in CD, however=D

Hate to double post but this is very true, a good routine of exercise, meals, and daily shit will do wonders to "put you on the right track", if you stick with it long enough initially (2-4 weeks). Also I wan't to point out that I'v gained alot of weight sense I've cut back, and I at alot even before that. I think it has to do with the way Cannabis regulates appitite.

im glad some at least concede heavy smokers need to smoke before eating properly.

i smoked 10years almost everyday (5days/week minimum) at my peak 3.5grams/day, no shit...

i had to quit cos of drugs testing at work and gained 2stone/ 15kg / 30pounds in 1year. i smoked only on holidays to avoid being detected.

buzzybee, i am trying to offer advice to you as your parents are noticing things now.
the rest of them will just say u are weird and imply weed doesnt cause these issues. g'luck.
 
i suspect that the question you should really be asking is -
why do i have no appetite?
why am i lathargic/apathetic/lazy all the time?


i suspect there are more underlying reasons than you are letting up/admitting to yourself.

everyone's different. in my 6 years of toking, out of all the people i know in my life, i handle cannabis the best-
ie, i dont have problems with it, doesnt interfere with my life, and
as with every other drug ive tried - i find that i dont have an addictive personality,
eg - a few years back, id gone from smoking a quarter ounce of hash n bud with me and buddies EVERY other damn day for 2 years, then one day over summer i just decided to take a break as it was getting boring.

i stopped for an entire year from that day on. not one hit.
when i decided the next year to start up again i told myself im not gonna go back to smoking hefty amounts every day.
it ruins the high, and makes you tired as fuck.

now i smoke pretty much every day/every other day, but its like a bong hit or two at night ;)
i still get high as fuck, but i take it easy every now and then.



like ^ he said- life experience. Know your limits, dont kid yourself.

trust me, its good to just take a break every now and then.
if you cant do that with weed, then i imagine there are underlying problems too.


PS- its kinda strange, as technically i should be genetically pre-disposed to addiction, alcoholism, etc. i dont drink, and its hard for me to get addicted.

Indeed, it's quite easy. You just need to have considerable willpower.

I smoke every day before work, ride my bike ten miles, work my shift, and then ride back ten miles (stopping a few miles into the ride to smoke again).



If you're lazy after smoking, it's because you're lazy, not because the weed is forcing you to be lazy. I usually do this with indicas, btw, as I find they make the trip more enjoyable. Sativas are only fun for me when I'm with people.
Just force yourself to get up and do whatever it is you need to do.

BTW, not having an appetite after a long period of heavy usage is completely normal. You'll only get it back when you smoke, or if you wait a very long time.

or, and i dont want to be too eccentric here and outside the box but... he can try stopping for a month or two?
 
I'm not advocating continued use. I was simply pointing out that his issues were normal, and easily dealt with.


Sure, he could stop, but he asked if there were any other ways to overcome the issues. Seems to me you're just making an ass of yourself.
 
I think mindset has alot to do with it. If your thinking I have to wait a year to smoke; its gonna be hard.

If you go in with the thought that your going to take a break and feel better and get shit done, then its a bit easier to stay clean.

And if it takes months to get your appitite back theres likely something else going on, maybe emotionally (anxiety, depression), several months is along time for withdrawal even with THC's half life.

unfortunately not everyone can blaze and cycle 20miles.

i recently quit (major uni exams made me quit for 2months after smokin daily again) so felt i could level with him more than the average poster here.
 
Yeah I rarely eat these days. Smoking about 3 grams a day and sometimes you go days without an appetite. Doesn't really bother me though. I can eat if I want to, just find that I don't need to.
 
Make a schedule for every day that involves everything you want to do in that day. Add all the healthy things you want to do in there, and your smoking, but limit your smoking to a certain amount, and try it for a week, that's all. your willpower can last a week, if it can't, then you're going to find yourself in a really bad place in 2-3 years when weed doesn't cut it anymore. Start now or be veryyyy careful of the habit progression. Drugs can be switched out for eachother. good luck

yea it was at that point where i couldnt really eat unless i had the munchies

not good. so i stopped smoking...on friday?

making myself get up early, going to bed early, i attempted breakfast today, something that i could not live without, but since smoking, it kinda went out of the window.

just need to put some wieght on again and get myself healthy

yeah a lot of people couldnt understand how weed made me skinny, but generally if i didnt smoke (which i didnt get the chance to do al the time, only when i was at my bf's) i didnt really have an appetite at all. i think i shrunk my belly too so i think the odd binge will be needed to make it good again! wieghed myself today, im about 5'5" and now wiegh 7 st 6 lbs...whereas b4 i started smoking i was 8st 10 lbs which was about july time.

so im gonna make sure that i eat at least 3 times a day and also drink plenty of water.

ino its early days yet...but i kinda already feel more active. my immune system wasnt really good in the first place but i definetley feel an improvement

and i think someone said something about underlying stuff and that it wasnt just weed, your right, not just the weed but mostly that. but ive already arranged a dr's app for hopefully a psych or something, i just feel that i kinda put myself in self-destruct mode whilst i was having trouble dealing with things, hence the smoking. my family are now keeping a watchful eye though and i know that they will make sure that i stick to my college work, put on wieght etc.

really want to thank you again for your comments, at least i know im not the odd one out!!! haha and at least i know that if i ever got obese id know what to do...

hi my input on this.....

I smoked MJ for over 13 years up to 7 grams a day for 10 years of the 13 years. I was a lean 55kg never up or down. I found that MJ suppressed my appetite. Although I suspect it might of been the tobacco I was mixing with my Mj. I smoked out of a bong, not joints. I drank up to 2 litres of milk before going to sleep (craved it...thought it was my body yearning the fat). When I'de awake in the morning the first thing I'de do is go to the toilet for a shit, without fail EVERY MORNING for over 13 years !! I have since stopped heavy smoking and am 85kg's eating like a champion. Also I must mention I was very active while smoking. I lived and worked on my farm/business so work and smoking was a big part of everyday life. I am wondering whether you smoke cigarettes too ? or mix it with your MJ.
