I take 1.5 mg of Clonazepam off and on for a years but especially the last 6 months. I take it 2 times a week, but some weeks I take it 3 times or 1 time.

I am on prozac now and want to stop Clonazepam. But I am afraid of withdrawal. Can I stop it cold turkey or will I go through withdrawals?

How long until withdrawal hits if I had my last dose at at 3am last night, if it will hit.

You might experience some minor wd but this might be indistinguishable from the probable rebound anxiety you will experience.

Just taper your use a bit before you stop completely - take half mg for a bit instead of your usual 1.5, or reduce the frequency by sticking to 4 day minimum breaks between doses. Clonazepams half life isnt that long so a four day break should be enough time for you to work out how uncomfortable your going to feel.

I don't think you'll go through withdrawals just because you weren't taking them every single day which is usually what builds a physical dependency. Now as steewith2ees said, the rebound anxiety is really what you might have a problem with but if they have you on prozac that should take care of it and you probably don't have anything to worry about :-)

Hey guys I waited 4 days and no real withdrawal symptoms appeared.

But last night my stomach problems (IBS) which show up now and then were driving me crazy so I took 1.5 mg to sleep.

I figure if I keep taking it so sporadically it can help me without causing withdrawals.

Does that make sense?

have been told by many docs through out my benzo exp so far that if you take them as needed you should be fine no WD no crazy side effects meaning if you are taking them randomly through out the week then you should be fine
i have been also been told by many doc that your tolerance can also reset it you take a long break from them
but if you are popping them like candy all day, everyday for long periods of them then yes expect trouble

i went into detox once for alcohol and was being feed valium daily for a solid week atleast 3 or 4 doses daily the first few days then less and less throughout the week and i came out fine
no WD no nothing

I don't feel that the withdrawal would be in any way intense, if at all present. It sounds like you are in control in terms of your usage as you seem to be making the decision to stop yourself.

Thats exactly how you should take them. Benzodiazepines should be only taken daily under medical supervision for detox or maintenance. Their only other real use as an anxiety or hypnotic medication is to use them 'pro re nata' / PRN - take them only when required.
