So for about a year now live resin has been x units not xx units so I have been buying it -- and wasting quite a bit torching my hand, or just torching the hash, dropping it outside of the bowlpiece etc (Some of you may relate)

I was ready to grab an entire E-nail rig **From this point this is gunna sound like a product plug and it is, but I am not affiliated just a happy customer, I am sure there a variety of these made my different companies do your own research***

and the guy at the smoke shop recommends a "Lookah Seahorse" which is far less expensive than things I have not been satisfied with like the peak pro --- basically just a heating unit that hooks to a glass tube. Push the USB down 3 times it heats to (I forget how many degrees) and stays there for 20 seconds or so...

Holy game changer. I had no idea how poor my dabbing technique was or how much I was wasting until I got this thing --- Two days ago so I can't say Alot on if it will last or not... But damn it makes life easy. I recommend getting one or a similar product if you dab live resin, rosin, concentrate. Again I am sure there are plenty of similar products I have no brand loyalty or research --- this is a game changer though

That's no issue with me in the present context as the information you provided allowed me to find exactly what i needed to see in just a matter of minutes.

...do your own research...

No need, i can safely bet what i'd like the most ain't going to show on the menu.

...it makes life easy. I recommend getting one or a similar product if you dab live resin, rosin, concentrate.

The problem is multi-factorial where i live, starting with the definition of "concentrate". But at least this is an opportunity to explain how the concept needs to evolve before i find it "sexy".

Simply put the ceramic element shouldn't have contacts. Last year i was made aware of a smokers product and being specific about it resulted in deletion of the post, because they love to leave troll trophies around while being quick to fall for the cancellation culture if there's an excuse, so lets just say it was an induction device with a « susceptor » inserted in every single proprietary stick. The important feature in this case was having a wireless heater element with ZERO electrical contacts, which in this layout as presented today wouldn't be too difficult to perform for a manufacturer with sufficient resources: either the printed coil can have its 2 end terminals "shorted" together or simply have a tubular shape to work as the single-turn secondary winding of a transformer. My motives for doing so are about reliability and possibly also active feedback actually measuring temperature in real-time, while when using a wired resistive heater this is only assumed to operate in a blind manner hoping there's no electrical disruption.

But i have no access to true concentrates anyway, so the scenario i've evoked is purely academic. In The Name Of Children... 🫥

^That is above my head haha its basically a heating element connected to a straight glass tube. "Quartz" prolly does have contacts.

Now that I put it that way I cant help but wonder how it would work with other substances? -- not a product plug though I am sure there are many similar devices made by many companies and this just happened to be the one the head shop sold.

Sick of buying butane and wasting wax -- wasn't impressed with the peak pro. This works and was pretty cheap

this seems like it would work for flower, as well... i personally prefer flower.

i used to have a fantasy, it was to use a rough- cut diamond as a 'coal' to light my bowl pack. like, i'd have it in or right next to a fire (like a bonfire) and place it in the packed bowl.

I think it does have a dry herb mode but I am not sure how viable it would be as the airflow comes through the middle of the heating element (pretty sure) than that funnels out to a glass tube with mouthpiece.

Lol I don't wanna link a picture as I swear I'm not plugging this product as much as just finding something better than a torch after looking a long while and trying a USB bong which was expensive and underwhelming. This too operates on USB so I have my doubts about it lasting forever or anything but damn its convenient compared to butane torch lol

The diamond idea sounds neat -- just have to have it on a stick (Of some kind that doesn't burn or conduct heat too much, hold over flame or whatever till red hot place in bowl and inhale. (Maybe the stick could be like an extendo baton idk haha I'm thinking on the fly)---it is already a diamond forkin out for w/e stick seems reasonable --- did I just explain how a heated rock on a stick works lol sorry I didn't realize haha

Glad the Seahorse works for you, but I bought one a couple years ago, the 2.0 model and after 2 months, but only maybe 15-20 uses, if that, it literally fell apart in my hands when getting ready to use it one day. Casing, element, wiring, all of it fuckin' disintegrated lol. Now I use a nectar collector with a titanium tip, a small torch, and love it. 👍

Not hating just throwing it out there, ymmv. 🙂

That is above my head...

And yet quite accessible, e.g. at the reach of practically anyone's fingertips who's "connected" while knowing what to look for.

So please allow me to ask in everyone's behalf, lets see what our good friend Google has to say!

Diamond: specific heat capacity 520 J/(kg·K), thermal conductivity 2200 W/(m·K)
Silicon Carbide: specific heat capacity 670 J/(kg·K), thermal conductivity 636 W/(m·K)

In addition, it shouldn't come as a surprise if this quick search also mentions an evidence about diamond having a tensile strength almost 200 times that of SiC.

...I cant help but wonder how it would work with other substances?

Dabbing typically relies on conduction heat, while for dry flowers the superior option is convection and this difference implies a need to convert energy through a high-porosity material such as SiC Foam - just as what's inside my personalized pipe where the pre-heating period been adjusted down to ~1 second and the energy budget around 100 joules per puff ("costing" 25 ~ 35 mg of shredded material), so even a single-flame butane jet lighter will work and even last for years.

Finally, in a pre-emptive style expecting future detailed but related topics, lets remind ourselves of this most basic fundamental law of dame Nature:
Q = m⋅𝚫T⋅c
Q - heat
m - mass
𝚫T - temperature change
c - specific heat capacity

Which is an opportunity to plug in the numbers provided above and then decide which material has an edge in the real world, keeping in mind that SiC pellets are relatively more affordable...

honestly that sounds like a quite probable outcome --- reminds me of a vape pen quite a bit in basic design. Maybe you should get a better one if ya bother getting one--- ^ Which one are you using egzoset

Did you ever find a permanent solution or back to the torch?

Not much of a DIY guy big E (had to) -- But I will check it out

Lol reoccurring problem in my life -- (see the want to play Mario games *but too lazy to learn emulators* thread -- seems I may be SOL those retro consoles seem sketch)

Flickr, that is a product I presume. ("Sea horse" was a new one to me as well) -- That I will check out even more haha

Thank you!
