Marxism has been explained to the masses for the last 20 years. They teach about hegemony and ideological control in high school level English classes, for example, and the power structure has quite happily sat back and watched it burn out. The theory of a worldwide Marxist revolution where the workers rise up and take control of the means of production hasnt happened, and it has had ample opportunity. And I just don't see the masses supporting a violent revolution, although it depends on what grounds you are arguing for it.
On an equality for drug users platform, I think you'll get laughed right back to Russia. On a refute the capitalist system basis you might garner some support, but if so, why arent you doing it now? Where are the freedom fighters looking to destroy the capitalist system? I'll give you a hint, they flew planes into two towers, and look how much public support they got. A revolution has to be a grassroots expression of public opinion, and at the moment public opinion is actually moving ever so slowly to the right of the political spectrum, not the left. But until you convince people that they have been disenfranchised from the system, you cant take the power back. The people know about Marxism, and they dont care.
