Come on Psychetool, I'm waiting to hear where my analysis breaks down?
Lacey K, I'm not sure you believe what you are saying. How many times have you posted here about not being taken seriously because of the way you type? That is exactly my point. While it SHOULD be about what you say rather than the way you say it, the world just doesnt work like that.
To use your analogy, you use a crystal dish instead of a paper plate for the effect it has on people. You give a paper plate to John Howard, hes going to dismiss you as ghetto trash before he listens to what you say. Is it right? No. But just because its not right doesnt mean its not true. I happen to think you make some very good points, but they tend to be lost because people cant be bothered deciphering the way you speak. This is directly analogous to Psychetool and I. We share the same ideas, but my point is that because of the way he presents them, the vast majority of society is going to write them off without considering them.
I sympathize, but I think you aren't being realistic if you think the way you present information doesnt effect the way in which it is received. But theres a way to prove it. Next time you want to make a point to someone, try screaming at them. Then, try calm, reasoned argument. See which one gets you further.
