over the past week or two, i have been noticing that my stool has food in it, it has a very slight green/yellow (very slight) hue. It also smells particularly bad. what do you think my problem is?

Take digestive enzymes and yes.. chew well.

The foul odor... It's possible you're suffering from an allergy or intolerance to something.

Don't take digestive enzymes. Not yet. First step is to chew your food better. Count while chewing and notice how many times on average you chew, and then at least double it. If you still notice food in your stool, monitor what you're eating. Then see your doctor.

^ I need to get back into reading Thich Nhat Hanh. :)

But that's precisely it, OP. I haven't gotten to the stage where I'm drinking my food (unless it's a smoothie :P), but I make sure I chew food thoroughly. If I don't, not only do I have GI upsets, but I get hungrier quicker.

Further reading for ya: How much do you chew your food?

Well, what kind of food do you see in the stool? Is it like vegetables and stuff? Because sometimes foods that are high in fiber like lettuces, corn, beans, tomatoes, etc aren't broken down completely in the digestive system, and then you'll see them in your toilet afterwards.. it doesn't mean anything is wrong with you, that is normal.

Why not?

Genuinely curious. I've considered stopping at times but I have a lot of issues/abnormal diet.
Your stomach/small intestines should produce all the digestive enzymes you need and you should not self medicate yourself--You do not know what other issues down the road self medication could bring about. I mean, take eye drops for instance: Eventually, your eyes get used to the excess moisture and quit making enough. You are now dependent on those eye drops. Taking digestive enzymes could lead you down the same path: Dependency on that product. Do you really want to risk doing that to your body? To fix something that may be fixable by eating breakfast, eating at least three times a day, and by chewing your food properly?
