Stoner/doom metal anyone?

Burning Witch and Eyehategod gotta be the best, EW is wicked too, and obviously sabbath. Burning Witch are dark as fuck, but if you listen to the song "Stillborn" you can hear someone hitting a bong... so stoner enough for me (having an album recorded by steve albini always helps)
 
^ In Bongzilla's song "Trinity (Gigglebush)" you can hear them hitting the bong throughout. Almost like it's an instrument, lol.

Buzzov*en, though not typical to what most people think of when they hear "stoner metal", certainly have a few songs that fit that classification (a lot of their other tunes are more sludge/hardcore). Also, this band is what got Dixie Dave (Bongzilla/Weedeater) out there, so it deserves props for that.

Eyehategod has some pretty wicked tunes, for sure.

Goatsnake deserves a mention, too.
 
One of my favorite subgenres for sure. I don't think Acid King has been mentioned yet, but I'm sure everyone knows them.

I suppose these guys are more rock than metal, but Uncle Acid and the Deadbeats came out with a pretty good album last year -

Has anyone heard Mother Mars? They put out a great album last year that's still streaming in full on their bandcamp. It starts out a little generic, but about halfway through the first track, it gets drony and jammy, and pretty much stays that way. Fuckin awesome
 
I love Doom!!! Being a bass player,there`s nothing I love more than to rock out some heavy fuzzed out riffs. I`ve got a retarded amount of effects pedals. Every thing from overdrive,distortion,fuzz,delays and envelope filters. Getting high and rocking out is a ton of fun!

I really like BongRipper,High on Fire,Sabbath,Electric Wizard,Sleep,Sunn O))))...the list goes on.

Only recently did I start getting into this genre, and it was thanks to Ufomammut... I'm always recommending them to people... LOVE Snailking and the whole Eve album too.
My friend told me to listen to Ancestors if I liked doomy-sludgy stuff, and I liked them too, but have only had a few listens on YouTube so far.
I like lots of different styles of music, but lately I want it to sound as if Kyuss had sex with some metal and made a DoomBaby... hahaha :-)
Will keep an eye on this thread for more recommendations :-)

Still though, the mixing of the album is a bit rough and amateurish, but I think it really adds to the visceral sound of the music. Dragonaut has got to be my favorite song. And im surprised nobody has mentioned Dopethrone by Electric Wizard. I think thats their best song. Its the biggest eargasm ever

Considering Al was fucking beast in Sleep, I'd say that Om is suitable for this thread. It's not exactly "pure" but it does have elements of said genres.
Neurosis are fucking sick, but then we'd have to start naming bands in the same vein like Isis, Pelican, Rosetta, Cult of Luna, Red Sparrows, Callisto, etc.

Salome has my favourite female vocalist and they're insane.

Mars Red Sky are fucking bomb.
Krakow and Anodyne are in a similar vein to Isis/Neurosis and deserve more recognition.
Clutch are obligatory stoner.
The men of porn are never mentioned but they're fucking sick.
Motherfucking Noothgrush.
Howl aren't groundbreaking or anything, but they're solid and deserve a listen.
Wizard's Beard are fucking filthy, as are Iron Monkey and Grief. GREENMACHINE ARE FILTHY AS FUCK.
Uffomammut are obligatory stoner doom.
Eryn Non Dae are alright.
Capricorns need more fucking listens.
Intronaut are fairly well known but I fucking love them so I'm giving them a mention.
Black Sheep Wall and Gaza have elements of this, but Gaza is "mathy"
Buried at Sea are monsterous.
16 are never mentioned and deserve to be.
I love Boris and Brainoil, and ofc the Melvins.

I just picked up 2 Young Widows` LPs. I never knew that 3 of them used to be in Breather Resist. I liked that band a lot too.

If you like Sunn O))) you should check out their split with Boris. There was a band that had a strikingly similar sound to EW's "Dopethrone" but I can't remember who!

And yeah, that's how it is on the music board of a certain imageboard. Bongripper deserve all the mentions they get imo, as "Satan Worshipping Doom" was fucking brilliant. I liked their latest "Sex tape/snuff film" but not as much as SWD.
I've only got the Old Wounds album by Young Widows, not a big fan but it's not like I dislike them or anything.
 
dopethrone by electric wizard. i know it's kinda obvious but that's my favorite album of the genre. others would be hail satan worship doom by bongripper, gateway by bongzilla and busse woods by acid king

You list some pretty good albums. Sleep,Electric Wizard and BongRipper are all favorites of mine. I`ll have to check out the others that you listed. I wish I knew a drummer and guitarist in my area. I love playing slow,fuzzed out bass riffs. If only I could find like minded dudes to DOOM out with!
Also,I really like The Sword.
