i'm a junior in high school looking at colleges. i don't really smoke that much these days because of my parents but i intend to toke a lot in college. i have pretty good grades and sat but i dont want too much of a challenge because i want to get high a lot and start a band probably. what do you think are the notorious "ivy" league schools here in the us?

lol ivy league contains 8 specific high class universities, unless you were alluding to the fact that a lot of people there smoke up. I'd say every college in the us is full of pot-heads, mostly due to the fact that most college students tend to be liberal. The more notorious ones? I dunno, ones in cali would be my guess.

chico state or santa cruz both have great educational and herbal extracurricular activities lots of cool bars in both towns also

Hey its great that your getting good grades and your already looking into some colleges but remember this. Your going to college to get an EDUCATION. Not to get high all the time. College is NOTHING like High school. It does require a lot more work then High school. A lot more. I can't tell you what to do with your life and its your choice completly but the best I can do is give you advice. I thought I could smoke a lot and just study before a test and do my projects at the last minute but I found myself struggling when I did that. I still love to smoke and I do it when ever I get a chance but I've cut back a lot.

Are these stoner college dorms usually furnished as well? It would be alot easier for stoners if they already had Pink Floyd/Hendrix/etc posters hanging up as well as paraphanelia and a 'guy on the couch'?

i heard that nyu has a lot of stoners.. diverse group of smokers whatever that means. my buddy flunked a test because he was basically too high to even write down his name. sounds like good shit. but also some classes seem kinda hard.

mostly ANYWHERE is going to be home to a lot of pot smokers. people are right, college is a verrry liberal atmosphere. so liberal in fact that, I came to UPitt as a liberal libertarian..now in my second year here i'm more of a socially conservative libertarian than ever, just because the liberalness pisses me off i guess. haha

To be honest thats a pretty fucking stupid attitude to have. Its "good shit" because your buddy is so stupid he got high and couldn't even write his name? Would it be funny or good if he went to class so drunk he couldn't stand? Yeah, sure it would 8(

Guess what, life is "kinda hard". Unless you plan to live in your parents basement to they die, I suggest you plan to put more effort into your life than "high a lot and start a band probably".

Besides, I'm sure your parents would love to drop 100+ grand on a college education just so you can move back in with them and practice your guitar with your mates in their garage every morning.

Try working hard, it can be strangely rewarding.

Freshman year should be a rude awakening for you..

But to answer your question, anything Northeast is a safe bet. University of Vermont (duh) UMass, Hampshire State or Uni..

Hell yeah, freshman year will kick your ass. Smoking weed will become a lot less important to you.

But as far as stoner-type colleges, there's the liberal arts school that was my second choice called Antioch College in yellow springs, ohio. its in a beautiful town, great atmosphere, lots of heady nugs, and generally good vibes.

evergreen State college In little old home town of mine Olympia, WA. If you dont smoke pot you dont fit in. All the teachers , deans, board members. The one thing thats nar nar though is you also cant shower there ha ha. They have people that only eat the fruit and such after it falls off tree. So you get these straving hippes hopeing they can eat that day. All my dealers where going to that school. I swear they have somthing in the water in that town that says SMOKE POT.

Basically all of your colleges are going to have stoners. Its college, its time to be free, your open to the world. You need to be able to maintain your grades though, school comes first. I attend community college so I can get my core classes at a reduced rate, this is my first semester. I've been lucky because my classes are pretty easy and I don't have to study a lot to maintain my grades, however, I don't let my drug life interfere with my school life. I don't go to school high, I find that my grades suffer when I do that, so I save the smoking for when I don't have work to do.

Go Cats!

We smoked loads o' bud back when I went to Northwestern in Evanston, IL.

It's quite a good school, Evanston borders on Chicago, right on the lake.
Plenty of party supplies of all sorts due to the proximity to the Windy City and you can get an excellent education as well.

Of course, I never partied 8o during my time there from 1984-1988 .....

McGill, Universite du Montreal if you know French, but Montreal is the biggest party/drugs/pot/hash city in North America, except maybe NYC, SF, or Vancity, but Montreal is cheap to live in, multilingual, and has more students per capita than anywhere in the continent.

Tho, McGill is pretty lame student body, UdM and Concordia(the other english univeristy here) have good student bodies and decent academics that are usually less stressful.

TioMoco

Not sure about when you went there, obviously, but these days NW is pretty lame for a party school. Great school with a wonderful campus though. Great location for parties, just nothing around campus itself these days.

As far as the debate of freshman year kicking the ass of people who like getting too high to write their names: definately. However, nothing wrong with spending part of your life doing nothing but jamming with friends. Just find a way to cut out the parents house part and it'll be a great way to spend a few years.
