This past Saturday I drank very heavily for the first time in months. Since then I have been suffering from stomach pains and diarrhea (sorry for being gross).

I also suffer from IBS but my condition has been a lot better this year. But since my drinking session on Saturday things have gotten worse.

Do you think I messed up my GI system permanently? Maybe this is just a way of my liver getting back to health. Has anyone been through this and how long did it last?

I suffered from bad pain a couple years ago every day and I just don't want to go through that again.

I use to get extremely painful and strange digestive problems after binge drinking. Between the vomiting yellow nasty stuff and the same type of thing coming out the other end, it was like the vodka was stripping the lining of my organs and causing them to come out, I know that isnt the case but it seemed like it.

My guess is you irritated what sounds like an already delicate system. I find most things in life, issues with the body/mind brought on by things like this, are seldom long term. We are lucky in that its almost like we are designed to learn. Rather then die you get a very painful and memorable experience so you dont repeat it. Drink water eat light carbs and rest youll be fine :)

hangovers can def cause the squirts, dehydration, headaches, stomach issues but it's usually 12-24 hrs after you drank so it shouldnt of lasted past sunday night maybe monday morning
you might have agitated your IBS due to the heavy drinking my brother has the same issue he doesnt drink all the time but if he drinks heavy then yes his IBS will get worse
if he drinks in moderation hes usually fine not condoning drinking but if you do drink ,drink in moderation and a bottle of 2 of water before heading to bed
water will def help prevent hangovers because a hang over is nothing but dehydration
i would keep hydrated with h20, a sports drink or even pedialyte would recommend water more than the others

Large amounts of alcohol are not good for your stomach. Eat a light meal of white rice, drink lots of water, and maybe take a pepto bismol?

I plugged some hard liquor and had two days of frequent bowl movements and pain.

My solution? Get an anti-acid like Pepto Bismal as well as an anti-inflammatory like aspirin, they work wonders.

Finally, you can try improving your pH levels by eating some baking soda or food that has high pH content, as an alkaline stomach should have less problems with stomach acid than a more acidic one.
