Different stimulants effect people differently and what might work good for you might not work the same for another.Through the years I've been on 5 different meds for ADD and each has a different effect in a way. Some doctors feel Ritilin is safer because it has less a chance of it becoming habit forming.I now take Vyvvance and Ritilin. It works well for me.More doctors will feel more comfortable prescribing Ritilin over Adderall if your new to the "ADHD" thing.I found it better to say your suffering from ADD and have been from gramer school and used to take medication.Don't push for Adderall right off the bat and just say you feel the need to be back on your meds.Usually they will ask what has worked for you and what have you taken in the past.Ritilin and Dexamphetamine are what was used when I was younger.I'm 46 now and find that the older still work for me,as does some of the more newer ones do.Adderall I find in a lot of cases is more preferred by people because it has more of a euphoric feel good effect but is more addictive than others. If your needing it for anything more than ADHD you very well could be addicted or headed down that road.Horrible place to be headed and from my experience stopping right now or getting help to stop very well be your best decision you could make.I can tell of my addiction to stims and what it did to deteriate my mental health but no time.Vyvvance works great for me and is a 12 hour time release that actually works for 12 hours or maybe a little more.I feel it has less pertential for addiction because I take it once a day and don't get the up and downs I get from fast acting stims.Have a good insurance though because its costly. One month supply or 30 pills comes to be over 400.00 bucks but I pay 3.20 because of my insurance. Some doctors are very liberal and some are stingy.Ask around and don't push hard for a certain med like Adderall. If they ask you what works for you then fine but be willing to work with them at first because you might find other stims to be just as good if not better.
