So in theory, beta-blockers -- a class of drugs widely prescribed for hypertension, performance anxiety, migrain, and heart attack -- should block the nasty cardiovascular effects of stims without affecting the mental ones.
To test this, I took 40mg of the beta-blocker propranolol that I got from a friend along with 75mg ephedrine -- more than enough to seriously boost my heartrate normally -- and some marijuana.
The test was a success! I measured my heartrate several times throughout the experience, and it stayed at 60-65 bpm, my resting level. However the stimulant effects of the ephedrine were quite noticeable. I didn't have anything to measure my BP with, otherwise I would have checked it.
You can find propranolol at online pharms fairly easily, I believe. When (if) I get some more, I will do a test with meth or coke... but I am out of beta-blockers for the moment.
Has anyone else tried this? I recommend it... for me at least, I would feel much better on a shitload of meth if I didn't have to worry about my crazy high heartrate.
Note that individual sensitivity to beta-blockers vary widely; so it could take anywhere from 20mg - 200mg propranolol to work for you.

I was actualy thinking about something similar before, but I've heard bad tings about propanolol causing dangerously low blood pressure if dosed wrong.

I have (at least i think) have done the same thing. I always use dexedrine to help me during big diving meets (springboard diving). And oh boy does the speed help me nail every dive. Only problem is, diving is already enough of a nerve racking sport and the dexies, while it does improve my diving tremendously, also gives me anxiety like woah. My bpm is at least over a steady 100 bpm every dive i do. My father suggested I take some atenelol to combat my anxiety. He also said it's ok to take on amphetamines too (which i'm still not sure about, but he's a doc)
So one diving meet, I took 30 mg of dexedrine and one 50 mg atenelol pill. My heart rate was 70-90 bpm and I felt very very focused and good. I was mentally still nervous but not as much and I was not physically nervous at all. My legs didn't tremble and shake. So it helped out alot.

I dunna... that doesnt sound very responsible of your father, who is a doctor, to recomend you take amphetamines before a sporting event... but hey, I wish it was my father!

I have ADD so i got a steady supply of dexies. My dad reccomends that i take my "medicated dosage" which like 5-10 mg. Though I take more to boost my performance. I don't think my parents would approve of me taking any more than 5-10 mg, So i don't let them find out.
