So im a 16 year old guy, and obviously im not going to be doing steroids anytime in the near future.

I lift weights though, and admire figures such as the god Arnold, I think arnold is the ultimate bodybuilder of all time, nowadays its just a freak show of how disgustingly big can they get.

I feel though that if somewhere down the road, i used steroids and made great gains, i would feel like i was cheating, and didnt earn the results.

What are your guys thoughts on steroids; is it cheating? Does it take away the feeling of great gains knowing you took steroids to acheive it?

You're only cheating if you haven't reached your gentic poteintal. If you're there - or close - then you're just progressing past your genetics.

Some people are born to be small. Others aren't. Steroids level that field (unless the naturally big get in on the drugs).

true, but you still used an illegal substance to make unnatural gains

steroids are in nay way, shape, or form cheating in my opinion...They're performance enhancing drugs....and they arent magical...if you take steroids and don't consume enough calories they dont do shit

So you put steroids more in the category of supplements like creatine, whey protein, etc?

I would only consider it cheating if you were a profesional athlete competing in a league in which steroids are banned (such as the olypmics, NBA, NFL, etc.) otherwise I do not consider it cheating in the least. I agree with PARooolller as well, everyone I know that uses steroids exercises and diets 100 times harder and better than most people that do not.

P.S. Have you every seen a documentary called "Bigger, Stronger, Faster"?

Ya, i wasnt referring to leagues like that, but i agree with you that it is cheating when used in those leagues for an unfair advantage. Im just referring to us general people who lift weights for size+strength+looks

you guys really dont see it as cheating in a way though? Obviously even with steroids you must train hard, but your still using something to make unnatural superhuman gains

ya, ive seen atleast the first half of that movie a while ago. I think ill go back and watch it again now that you mention it though.

Who are you cheating? Maybe it's my age (in my 40's) but I LIKE using steroids to get gains quicker than I otherwise could. I'm FAR AWAY from my genetic potential do not feel the least bit guilty and it does not negatively impact my self-esteem (re: I am taking a shortcut). But I recognize that this is MY perspective, others can and do see things very differently.

A wise old man once told me: Your pot of gold is where YOU find it.

Is getting a doctor to set a broken bone 'cheating' nature? Other animals can't and don't do this and often die when they break a bone.

Is taking a short cut to get to work 'cheating'? I see steroids like a shortcut. I LIKE taking shortcuts. Taking shortcuts saves me time. I like that.

If you will feel better about yourself by just lifting, eating healthy, and getting good sleep to build your body then by all means do that. For me I feel better using steroids to get there quicker (obviously I've only fairly recently been lifting and using steroids, haven't been doing it for decades or would have reached my genetic potential by now).

fuuuuuuuu i watched about 1:10 of bigger stronger faster, but then megavideo stopped letting me watch it. Am i missing anything in the last part? I already went through the main parts i think

interesting perspective. Im still just not sure about steroids and them being cheating; obviously alot of it has to do with my upbringing and everything ive been surrouned by. And up until the past week Ive always thought steroids were like a losers "easy way out"

my opinion is slowly starting to change though. I will definitely need to be convinced further if i am to do this in the future though.

Would you consider a soldier fighting for your freedom and putting his life on the line for you a "cheater" if he was only able to carry one of his buddies out of harms way instead of two?

Steroids are only "cheating" if you choose to enter in a contest/program/sport/affiliation that forbids them. Our military and law enforcement should be allowed to engage in such programs though....and I wouldn't mind my tax dollars paying for it.

Oh right. As long as tobacco, alcohol and various prescription drugs remain legal I'll continue to forget that other stuff isn't.

lol at this thread

give me a fucking break and find another forum

let me give you some advice young man, you need to deprogram yourself on LSD long before you should touch steroids

Should be a requirement.

I just think that if i did use steroids in the future, i wouldnt feel as good about it because i would know i used something to increase natural gains to a superhuman level

I really wouldn't call it superhuman. I'm finishing my first cycle of test and while I gained a bit off it I'm certainly not throwing yachts around (or punching through car windows).

It's not cheating unless you are doing them to win money in a contest for which you have agreed not to take PEDs.

Though if you are going to cycle without maxing yourself out naturally first wouldn't that kind of be a waste of money and time? Spend some years doing everything you can to be at your best without the roids, then see if you still want that extra help. Doing steroids with no lifting history or no preparedness to diet and recover properly is only going to label you an idiot. (GOING TO JAIL NEED TO TAKE ROIDS TO GET HUGE or whatever.)

Ya i know. even if i did roids in the future, it wouldnt be until i reach my genetic potential and get to a point where i dont think i could naturally get any bigger/stronger
