Stealing DXM Penalty?

I was just wondering what the penalty of stealing DXM is. I don't do it, I was just wondering what would happen if you got caught at stores such as Walmart, Target, King Soopers or Wallgreens.

If you get caught by security for stealing a bottle of robotussin, it'd be the same penalty as stealing anything of the same value.

it's shoplifting. which is usually something like a petty theft charge.
