staying healthy whilst been a drug user.

I started as a heavy 'cid user with very bad eating and exercising habits, only eating once a day and usually only a bowl of wedges or a ham and cheese toastie. My health was terrible and I went down to 48kgs (I'm 6 foot). Moving to Victoria took me away from that lifestyle and my health returned quickly.

I went quickly from never smoking green to a q every 3 days when i got with my ex, plus speed, mushies and 'cid on alternating weekends. During that time I made sure to have at least one decent meal a day (home cooked meals that I prepared and balanced out). My health stayed positive and I notice no ill effects (other than gaining 10kgs).

Since I broke up with my partner I went down to a j or 2 maybe 3 times a week max and mushrooms every 4-6 days. I've also started adding Salvia to that mix. So far I have not noticed any drop in my health and I am keeping up with my one decent meal a day.

Psychedelics dont really fuck with ur health though most of the time. Its the stimulants and other stuff id be worried about. Hell I even get munchies on shrooms, eating fruits is awesome when tripping :)

Agree with everything else suggested here.....moderation, positive mindset, exercise and still eating and sleeping on a bender. I also find I am better to not "mix" drugs and just stick to the one thing the whole time. I mainly use legal highs from my local adult shop, mainly due to easy availability but I generally like the cleaner buzz from these anyway.
Anyway the stuff I use does tend to sometimes trigger my insomnia and in those cases in the past I would often drink or try and smoke myself to sleep which of course doesn't happen and I end up feeling even more lost, scattered and depressed on the comedown. Its hard but I fight the urge to use other stuff to "come down with" and I bounce back better for it.

Psychedelics are fine on the body and I would say most of the time are physically healthy to your body. Especially if you have good quality acid or fresh picked shrooms. I would say over use and abuse can fuck your mind.

Love those shroom munchies... tho... fresh home made food to restore health after an epic journey.....

I found that overindulgence of hallucinogens screwed with my mind so much that I neglected my body, resulting in bad health.

^^^you live and learn... maybe now you will respect them and take them in a more sensible fashion.

I try not to eat take away food, we have a great home veggie garden that supplies over 50% of all the stuff we eat, I make my own bread, buy locally grown organic coffee beans and ground them myself, I go for a few weeks at a time now without cannabis (after 20 years of daily use) and then when I do get some now I just get enough to really slam it hard for 2 days and then purposely run out.

If I have drugs around I will take them, I moved to the country so that removed a lot of the ease of getting drugs that the city provides.

I agree with everyone who said "Moderation is the key", Bring your body to a good balanced state of healthy equilibrium and then just slam a high dose of something, you will be physically up to the task and it will be a lot more intense and meaningful.

I give myself breaks to test if I'm becomming addicted, habitualy or psychologically.
Got 1 week to go now, and suuuure I could snort some lines, but I have work to do, and next weekend is the party.

I can do this, I would like some...
But I've got to have self-restraint.

I also take multivitamines and a bunch of other things.

Exercise is probably the most helpful thing for me. I jog for an hour or two 3-4 times a week. Started out much slower because I was very unfit after I stopped doing school sports. Makes me feel good...helps heaps with stress and I seem to recover much quicker if I've taken drugs.

Moderation is the main thing but I know that's hard sometimes. Getting enough sleep, eating enough food and drinking enough water is something I've noticed lots of people don't do...especially when using stims like meth. Can make all the difference in the days following.

I don't really eat any take away anymore. Cheaper and better to just make stuff at home. Had my first maccas for about 6 months the other day and it made me feel like complete shit afterwards...I used to have it a few times a week. I'm not a health freak or anything, but getting exercise, eating good, getting rest had made me feel so much better.

If I'm not getting enough veggies I'll take a multivitamin. I use the Swiss brand, apparently it's one of the most consistent and high quality. I also take fish oil since I've had issues with my attention and impulsiveness, seems to help...I use the blackmores brand 'omega brain' my doctor recommended it because it's what they used in some of the studies done on omega 3's, and is apparently good quality.

Try animal pak for vitamins, nothing is better and Ive tried them all, this one really seems to work very well, you can actually notice ur energy levels sky rocket. Another good one is Optimen if you prefer something cheaper and not having to take that many pills at once.

Well guys I'd like to say about that I am a fitness freak and gave up pretty much everything and havnt had any regrets and feeling liek a million bucks at the moment. That's the thing I've shared about me.

Thought I'd dig this thread back up again as I thought it was interesting.

I'm interested in what kind of preventative health measures people are into here.

I personally have recently started taking low dose aspirin every day; 100mg, with a vitamin C tablet as well as there is some evidence this helps reduce stomach damage. I figure that with my unhealthy smoking habit the aspirin was a good idea, and although I'm not overweight I am very sedentary and consume a lot of sugars and fats. There has also been interesting research showing that aspirin use helps to reduce the risk of certain types of cancers.

I'm also taking propranolol, 40mg three times a day as treatment for essential tremor but that also reduces the risk of stroke and heart attack by lowering blood pressure.

Also taking calcium supplements at the moment as I work on building my dairy intake up, I've never been a big dairy eater but I figure I should start getting some calcium in to me before I start having problems. :)

^ I'd be wary with the aspirin, that sort of regimen is usually only recommended for older people and those at high risk of cardiovascular events (heart attack, stroke, etc.). There are always side effects and you have to consider whether the perceived benefits really outweigh the potential risks.

My only supplement per se is daily fish oil. Regularly exercise is really the best thing you can do, along with improving diet. Any supplements/vitamins/herbs/drugs you add are just icing on the cake and can't replace those fundamentals.

^ Yeah I know that there are side effects and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone... I might be a little irrational with my use of it but I have a family history of cancers and cardiovascular problems. I was thinking of just taking it for a while to get the kind of changes in cancer risks talked about in this article.

I'm well aware of the hypocrisy that I continue to smoke cigarettes however. ;)

I really should try and improve my diet as well... I've managed to make some changes in the last year that have helped, I find it difficult to eat properly though. :\

Most of the males in my family have had heart attacks at around 30.. without any drug use. I take aspirin, fairly often as well for that reason.

I reckon if the entire population got some clean opium to eat or smoke once a month in a nice ceremony a lot of other health issues would go away by themselves :)

I reckon if the entire population got off their lazy arses once a day and went for a run a lot of other health issues would go away by themselves ;)

Question: Will taking asprin reduce the risk of a cardiovascular problem while binging on stimulants? To be honest, i'm getting older, i rarely do any drugs any more, but i always have some paranoia in the back of my head that one of these days i'll eat some gas or something at a festival in the bush and end up having a heart attack, you know, generally abusing myself at those events n all.
