Its good to see that states aren't simply rolling over and overturning their MMJ laws but I hate to see the federal gov't still trying to interfere with sate MMJ laws. There are far more important things for the gov't to worry about; spending money to prosecute these folks is just a waste of everyone's time and taxpayer money.

Fucking with states rights led to the bloodiest war in american history. Granted it would be REALLY hard to get an army of stoners to pick up guns, but The Marijuana Rebellion would be a history book favorite section for the rest of time

""The policy is to go after those people who violate both federal and state law," Holder told reporters at the time."

So... are they suggesting that they only want to prosecute people who are using MMJ as a guise to simply sell pot to regular people? I guess I don't have a problem with that as long as they leave alone those patients and legitimate care givers who are abiding by their state laws. But if someone is trying to open a dispensary to be a front for major drug trafficking then I say let them be prosecuted because they are putting the cause for MMJ two steps backwards

I don't see why a state should even consider a policy change just because the feds warn against state-level legalization. The more states that legalize the harder it will be for the Federal government to flex its nuts. I was kind of disappointed when I read that article about the Washington Governor pussing out after a warning from the Fed. Like, wtf are they gonna do, send some federal agents out to patrol and try to bust people? Fuck them, let 'em try. They won't be able to send enough feds out to patrol at near the rate the state-level officers currently do.

The civil war wasn't about state's rights with the exception of the right to hold slaves. And it wasn't about Northern aggression, the south started the civil war 100%.

this worries me, big time. This honestly seems random, once again. I was thinking mmj laws were only going forward due to the recent increase in news coverage.

The Department of Justice said two years ago that it would be an inefficient use of funds to target people who are in clear compliance with state law. But U.S. attorneys have said in their recent memos that they would consider civil or criminal penalties for those who run large-scale operations — even if they are acceptable under state law.

In other words, keep it small.
Don't make it too big time or have too much money involved.
Money=Power and Big Brother feels threatened.

I kno it seems kinda crazy, but i honestly dont think the fed. gov. will have enough money 2 years down the road to implement anything like this. they will say this shit and have 3 or 4 busts to justify their federally allocated $$$, one of which will probably be a nonviolent and otherwise law abiding citizen/organization.

Does anyone really expect them to chop down the tree that gives them shade? the drug war is an enormous cash cow herd. The money the gov. earns from big pharma and illicit drug sales could be the only thing keeping the fed. gov. running. Im probably wrong but theres still no reason to shoot yourself in the foot.

Yea, the government's constitution says "of the people, for the people". Shooting yourself in the foot is sitting by idly making ridiculous analogies while greedy crooks take all the money...

There shouldn't have been a war in the first place. The south had the right to secede.

Or maybe I just had a jaded civil war teacher. The guys life dream is to retire in a home in Gettysburg and give tours lol hell if I know =p

Bingo. The Federal government is insolvent. The debt problem is only going to continue to balloon out of control until (not far down the road) lenders stop lending to us and the dollar is replaced as the world's reserve currency.

The proverbial shit is hitting the fan, and it may be what finally makes the drug war unfightable, not just (as has always been the case) unwinnable.

Crossing my fingers, but not holding my breath. In the meantime we must all POUND Congress and the White House as well as our state legislatures with letters and calls expressing our desire that this immoral, illegal, unconstitutional war be immediately halted.
