starting boxing

No

Pro boxers don't mess about with these kind of things, so I wouldn't

You're better off shadow boxing with dumbbells or just get a heavy punch bag

Boxing is so one-dimensional

Take up a combo of Brazilian Jiujitsu and Muay Thai

yeah but not everyone has ninja-like tactics and can roll around on the floor/mat putting opponents into pyramids and crazy ass submissions....boxing is ruthless and the closest thing to a controlled street fight that you'll ever get....with the exception of MMA, but even though most street fights end up on the ground, it is usually because someone is knocked out...

I myself am not agile and don't have a good ground game but I'm strong as fuck, have an explosive temper, unbelievable endurance, and an extremely stong left arm.....I've been in 3 real fights, and in one of them, one punch to the jaw sent the kid to the hospital for a week and a half........I got my ass beat the other 2 times and was throwing drunken haymakers while slipping on ice =D

I do mixed grappling, mma, and strength and conditioning. On top of that im starting boxing soon, the only thing im missing now is muay thai which i dont really like because i didnt have fun at classes, and i think thats a big part of it.

I know you'd rather get a girl's opinion, but anyway the sexiest guys I've met were all boxers/kickboxers (so much so that I've actually developed a fetish for them over time). You can actually feel/see raw power surging into their chest/arms, unlike the rather plastic gym-build.

Yeah, that's what my boxer friends say as well.

Ok i can actually give you some decent advice here. I was a boxer for my local Golden Gloves when i was in college. I would say the BEST thing you can do is get a trainer ASAP. Many local trainers can be found if you have a YMCA or a Golden Gloves. If you start out with a trainer, instead of on your own, you will not develop many of the bad habits that most trainers spend their time breaking you of. Many things can be learned about throwing a punch and breathing and moving that you may not realize. If you are in good shape (i am not) you will have an easier time. Just know that if you are in great shape and you join a club, u will be a target from other boxers! lol that will be the fun part!

Just got back from my first lesson at the local boxing club, the PCYC. Had alot of fun, and probably wont be going to mixed grappling class in favour of boxing now.
