St. John's wort shown to upregulate 5ht1a and 5ht2a receptors after down-regulation caused by use. You might have to get a good brand and use for a few weeks though. 5htl good for short run.
I wonder what system-wide effect that actually has in the long term?
I wonder if it is a "good thing" as such to increase the numbers of those receptors? Does increased receptors mean you get better use out of the serotonin that you have and feel better for it, or does it mean that the little you have gets used up quicker resulting in more depressive feelings once you stop taking the hypericum?
