So I have used 5htp for the crash of mdma. I've heard that St Johns Wort works as well but I wanted to know which is better for the crash.

I have a hard time finding 5htp more than St. Johns Wort. I was just wondering if I should make the switch.
Anyone prefer one or the other?

they both work really well. i prefer 5htp

but if your concered about cost, go for sjw. they actually have 5htp mixed with sjw, i might buy me some soon haha :)

St. John's wort shown to upregulate 5ht1a and 5ht2a receptors after down-regulation caused by use. You might have to get a good brand and use for a few weeks though. 5htl good for short run.

hmm not sure about 5ht1a pal. i read that it actually downregulates them. could you post a link to where you read about the 5ht1 UP-regulation?

Would you recommend these supplements to regain the magic opposed to something like piracetam?

Effects of long-term administration of hypericum extracts on the affinity and density of the central serotonergic 5-HT1 A and 5-HT2 A receptors.

Abstract
Extracts of St. John's wort, Hypericum perforatum L. (Hypericaceae), are used as a phytotherapeutic antidepressant. A number of clinical studies demonstrate that their antidepressive potency is comparable to tricyclic antidepressants (TCA). Although the therapeutic effect of hypericum extracts is well documented, very little is known about the molecular mode of action. As the improvement of the depressive symptoms with both TCA and hypericum extracts only occurs significantly after a lag phase of 10 to 14 days, it is assumed that the medication causes long-term adaptations within the central nervous system. In this context, serotonergic (5-HT) receptors are of special interest. Therefore, we investigated possible alterations in affinity and density of 5-HT1 A and 5-HT2 A receptors caused by long-term treatment of rats with St. John's wort. The brain without cerebellum and brain stem of rats, treated daily for 26 weeks with a commercially available hypericum extract (2700 mg/kg LI 160) were used for membrane preparations. Affinity (KD) and amount (Bmax) of serotonergic receptors were determined by employing receptor binding assays using 3 H-8-OH-DPAT and 3H-Ketanserin as selective radioligands for the 5-HT1 A and the 5-HT2 A receptors, respectively. We found that in hypericum-treated rats the number of both 5-HT1 A and 5-HT2 A receptors were significantly increased by 50% compared to controls, whereas the affinity of both serotonergic receptors remained unaltered. The data suggest an upregulation of 5-HT1 A and 5-HT2 A receptors due to prolonged administration of hypericum extracts. These results are consistent with a modification of the expression levels of serotonergic receptors caused by synthetic antidepressants.

There you go, pal. Go read up old post about regaining the magic aswell, there's lots of studies cited there as well on imminst.com.

EDIT: for those of you who don't know, hypericum is the active ingredient in SJW.

Yes I am in the USA. Maybe I'm just blind but I can NEVER find it when I search. I looked at whole foods because they have every natural supplement imaginable. I guess I'll just have to keep my eyes out. I would get it at costco, but I live with my parents so it would be hard to hide a huge thing of 5htp. :(

hahahah same. you cant even buy it from costco unless your parents are with you :( i just bought a bottle at GNC.

and thanks somedud:) i thought it just affected 5ht2 receptors, guess ya learn somethin new everyday

Not a problem :)

Wait, you can't readily get 5htp in USA? That's strange, I wonder why. It's at every walmart and health store in Canada for relatively cheap. Like $15 a bottle appx?

you can go into a supermarket or health store and buy it if thats what your asking. but if you want it from costco you need to be 18+ (or maybe you just need a costco card)

^ ohh I mis-understood what he meant I thought he said you couldn't get it haha

Just keep your eyes peeled dude it's everywhere.

This^

Go to CVS, Walgreens, Walmart, GNC, any where they sell natural supplements you should be able to find 5-HTP. I got mine at Walmart. A bit pricey though, $9 I believe =/ but worth it :D

oh yeah go to walmart. its a tad cheaper than buying it from a (not wal-marty;)) store. although i bought mine at GNC cause tbh i dont trust walmart. i really doubt the FDA is gonna check to see if wally-world is puting legit ingredients in its' meds.

you guys shouldnt whine! i used to live in the US, now here in holland, a bottle of 60pills costs 13 EUROS! the things i do for E. and i have no clue where to find nootropics here, like piracetam
