ssri's + stim comedown

while on ssri's, is a stim comedown not as bad or exactly the same in a person who wasn't on ssri's, seeing as you're already lacking emotions in the first place.

talking mainly about NE/dop down reg/depletion seeing as anything serotonergic doesn't really affect you

i'm on ssri's (100mg daily of zoloft) and i'm not lacking emotions. i fail to see how anyone on SSRI's is lacking emotions.

aside from this, i've never really had to deal with comedowns as bad as some people, I guess. I'm usually blessed with an afterglow instead of a lingering depression. this was the same before i was put onto SSRI's, and i've noticed no difference since i started taking them.

iguess "lacking" was the wrong word, maybe blunting your emotions. i meant lacking as in a lack of the full experience of them.

i'm talking more along the lines of stimulant abuse, binging etc. rather thanjust one time usage

Im on SSRIs and I use stims and honestly my lexapro does little to nothing to help battle the stim comedown.

I feel real depressed even after my daily lexapro coming down from a good stim dose.

Only thing that helps is benzos (xanax in paticular for me but all work fine)

If you cant find benzos I find alcohol to be a good alternative though benzos still work much better.

Good luck I know stim comedowns are a pain in the ass -_-

yeah i was thinking the same thing, i was just curious as i have recently been put on ssri's and have noticed less intensity in experiencing emotions... but i guess you can't get away from neurotransmitter's being depleted...

benzo's have always been a must for me and they still will be

if you want an antidepressant that will help stim comedowns, a dopamine acting(reuptake inhibitor, agonist, antagonist) would be best. however, these antidepressants can have stimulating effects(i.e. wellburtin), execpt for dopamine antagonists(i.e. seroquel), which can have powerful sedative effects and can make you TRULY an emotional zombie, so don't take something like seroquel on a comedown unless you are ready to be knocked out for a while.

gaba acting drugs like benzos, barbituates, alcohol, lyrica, ghb, etc. and strong opiates like oxycodone, hydrocodone, heroin, morphine, etc. are best for calming you on a comedown, but are addictive in themselves and can make living on stims easy, a cycle you don't want to go down.

herbal remedies like valerian, passionflower, kava, etc. can help. they are not very strong, but you won't get sucked into a nasty benzo or opiate addiction.

i wasn't looking for an antidepressant to help a stim comedown or any info on preventing/lessing the effects of a stim comedown, i was just curious to see if AD's made any difference whatsoever, a dopaminergic antidepressant would probably end up being worse imo as it will take you're body a lot longer to repair itself. seroquel i find is the best anti-psych/benzo for stim comedowns as it puts you too sleep very quickly

i found opiates to be too more-ish to use for stim comedowns as you just end up replacing the lack of a high with a better high and it makes it a lot harder to sleep. benzo's are great (in my case anyway) as i can just dose and then sleep will come eventually.

Yeah I find opiates to work great if your still feeling fatigued the next day from a stim comedown (at higher doses), but benzos always just make the comedown so much easier to deal with than anything else.

I like to take 2mg klonopin then 1mg of xanax a half hour, with some soft, indica marijuana to go along and I feel great, and can stay up if I need too, and save an extra 1-2mg of xanax to fall asleep. Everyones got there own ways but I recommend mine haha...
