SSRIs and other drugs?

I may be getting switched to an SSRI tomorrow. How will that affect my use of other drugs? Specifically psychedelics, but I'd also like to know about cannabis, painkillers, etc.

that is a big question to answer so much and so little can happen it's all how you specifically react to SSRIs

I know it will vary person to person, what I meant was how MIGHT it affect the use of other drugs, and how has it for other people. Like if you take an SSRI, how does that affect your use of other drugs, or does it affect it at all?

Nothing will happen immediately because SSRI's take 4-6 weeks to take full effect. However, avoid taking substances that are serotonergic (stimulate release of serotonin) because after your brain is flooded with the chemical the SSRI will prevent it from being removed from the brain. Too much serotonin in the CNS will cause Serotonin Syndrome and if you know anything about it... It's rather unpleasant, more severe symptoms include seizures and due to high blood pressure and heart rate cause shock.

If you're still going to do any drugs at all I wouldn't bother at all.
Their 'success rate' is borderline placebo for most and if they do work remember you are taking real Pych drugs.
They are not Panadols. I don't think GP's should be allowed to prescribe past initial script. A Psych should then take over.

Yeah, no DXM. I had to give it up after I got put on cymbalta. Mirtazapine got added about a year ago so now it's totally out of the question for me. Don't know what pain meds you had in mind but you will probably find tramadol and codeine less effective. It won't have any effect on any others like hydro or oxy or dillies.

I would skip demerol too (serotonin syndrome)
