SSRI's and Opiates?

Looking online I found that some SSRI's (Paxil, Prozac, and Wellbutrin) inhibit the
CYP2D6 enzyme. So that would potentiate opiates such as oxy and heroin, right?

Really? that may be true but for me it was the opposite. i was on prozac and snorted about 30 of oxy (for me this is a reallly high dose, i weigh 130 and had no tolerance) and felt just about nothing other than being really spacey.:| what a waste
 
That makes sense. It's the same with Codeine apart from that Oxy will actually work.
Both Oxycodone and Codeine are metabolized by CYP2D6, Codeine needing to be converted into Morphine (among other things) but Oxy being active on it's own.
 
but you would still get the pain releive surley from say codeine whilst taking prozac,Just not any euphoria which is not what am after??
 
They have the potential to completely change your mental well-being especially if you are not depressed

p.s who needs to potentiate heroin?
 
Yeah, its theoretically possible that SSRIs could potentiate heroin. But I never noticed much of a difference when I would do heroin when I was on paxil, zoloft, or citalopram. The SSRI didn't really seem to boost the effect of the opiate at all. I got much more pronounced potentiation effects (longer peak time and longer overall duration) when using DXM and tagamet to potentiate.
 
i've tried zoloft and prozac and have combined both with vicodin and oxys and all of the combinations definitely killed the euphoria. but when combined with marijuana or hallucinogens it made everything a hell of a lot trippier, i ddidnt notice a change in the euphoria

heres my story.
I only started toying with opiates a few months ago, mostly blues. I have loved them all along, and have never gotten beyond the point where 30mg wouldnt have me faded. I started citalopram 20mg (Only 1/2 once a day so far so 10mg each time) 2 days ago. Day 1 i did a 30 mg oxy, through a new method and shoulda been messed up. barely felt it. Today I did something i swore i never would, heroin, and i did enough so that i really shoulda been faded, barely anything. My buddy who is an experienced user did the exact same stuff, same amount, and has a MUCH higher tolerance and he said it was great. somehow i dont trust this above account that they go hand in hand. soooo....... if anyone who actually knows from experience could weigh in i'd appreciate that. I can also say that I did not have any suspicions of the opiates not working until after my experience today, so its not like i tricked myself out of the high or anything. So, am I just screwed and cant have anymore fun with opiates till i'm off the SSIR or should I maybe do it once a week or something so I have almost no tolerance at all and hopefully it will work?? I have a low tolerance as is so i really feel like today should have gone a lot better, but as I'm not addicted to anything yet (I've gone a couple days without a few times, twice by choice, with no withdrawals) I would be able to lower my usage and thus my tolerance. I'd rather do something once a week and love it than this bullshit where i dont really feel a thing.

But I agree SSRI's lower the intensity of oxy and shorten its duration.
 
i was on citalopram 20mg twice a day and perc/oxycodone had identical effect when i got off of it, imho theres something else at work here, have you been taking anything else? Heavy foods? etc
