SSRIs and 2c-x?

Hi guys!

I did a search and all of the past topics on SSRIs seemed either more general or more specific than this one. So: does anyone have any anecdotal or scientific knowledge about how SSRIs (tend to) interact with drugs in the 2c family?

The general consensus on the Internet is that SSRIs tend to diminish the effects of a trip, and this seems pretty in-line with my experience with 2c-e, but I feel like it might not be that simple. For example, when I overdosed on my SSRI (200 mg of Zoloft compared to my daily dose of 100 mg) and then tripped, I think that the SSRI may have extended (and even intensified) the effects of the trip. Of course, there's no way of knowing for sure exactly what caused what - that's why I'm interested in what y'all have to say!

I've tried 2c-i (varying doses) combined with escitalopram (lexapo,cipralex)[10mg daily for 3 weeks]. I didn't notice anything that different, it's tough to say when you're tripping however, but everything seemed typical. I did have a feeling of burning/aching chest but that was present the whole time i took escitalopram and only intensified after using psychedelics (probably just anxiety). At most i'd say there is a small loss in effect and not any potentiation; perhaps a more pleasant trip if the SSRIs work for you. I imagine a similar situation with the other 2c's.

When I first tried 2c-i months ago, I was on citalopram. I had stopped taking it for 3 or 4 days prior, but I was on it for over a year, so I'm sure it was in my system. I'm going to say, it definately effected the visual part of my trip, but not to the point where it wasn't worth doing. Now, months after I stopped taking the ssri, when I take 2c-i, its way better visually. But everybody reacts different. I really didn't like the way ssri's made me feel, and it was months after I stopped taking it, before I was free of the after-effects, such as the so-called "brain zaps". I will never take them again, but they have helped some people I know, so I remain optimistic they can do good for some folks.

I've only had intense visuals once out of a handful of trips; perhaps the SSRI does play a part in that.

Sorry the SSRI didn't do much for you, TestOfSanity. Mine seems to be helping, although I sleep a looootttt on it, which is annoying. I would just try self-medicating my depression with weed, but smoking makes me even sleepier, lolol. I think I'm gonna try upping my dose; my psych suggested that perhaps I'm still mildly depressed (as opposed to OMGIWANTTOKILLMYSELFEVERYDAY, which is how I was before the meds) and that's why I sleep so much.
