SSRI + Work +Sports?

Hi there, just a quick question.
I plan to start taking Escitalopram, mostly known as Lexapro, for a nasty mdma induced anxiety disorder/depression. My problem is I have to be present at work. 80% of my job is driving a car in cities from A to B. And im pretty addicted to my everydays sports.
I've red some bad horror storys about side effects SSRIs will initiate and I don't want them to interfere with my job and sports.
Do you think taking Escitalopram and working/doing sports while being onset will go well?

could be counter-productive towards those aspects initially because ssri's can worsen anxiety and depression for a short period until the side effects dissipate and clinical benefit is achieved.
 
I take Lexapro and I'm really curious as to what negative effects you heard of in relation to sports and work?

Could you tell me which ones you are thinking of?

Sure, Lexapro and SSRIs can have negative effects sometimes like worsening anxiety and depression but other than putting you in a bad mood or making you anxious I can't think of any SPECIFIC ways they could effect work or sports performance.

The way you put it almost made it sound like you'd heard they can effect you body's performance in sports in particular and I've never heard about them having negative effects on muscular or aerobic performance for example.
 
I think people are kind of ignoring the focus of your question.

From what I gather, you want to know of the initial side effects of taking escitalopram and how it will affect your work and sports while your body adjusts.

It really all depends, everyone reacts differently. Usually side effects, if you experience any at all, will last at most 3 weeks if it takes a while for your body to adjust and will start to appear in the first few days. As I say, some people find it hard to tolerate to start with, others experience mild side effects for a week or two and others breeze through with little to none.

Common side effects can range from, worsening of depression, anxiety and panic attacks.
Physically, you may feel run down, tired, dizzy... some people experience minor headaches and flu like symptoms(not the runny nose, but you get the idea).

For me personally the first time I was on escitalopram, I didn't experience any depression, anxiety etc... though I did feel a bit dizzy and experienced flu like symptoms for a few weeks(no runny nose though) made me feel run down. A few years down the line, re-taking escitalopram, I experienced worsened anxiety and panic attacks with none of the latter.

It really is different for everyone. So it's hard to say how you will or won't react.

Best case scenario, you won't experience any side effects.
Worst case scenario, you probably won't physically/mentally feel upto doing any sports for a few weeks and you'd have to push yourself through work, till your body adjusts.

All in all, most people tolerate SSRis pretty well.
