I am ADHD. Recently picked up a perscript for the slow release (SR on bottle) dexamphatemine capsules (20mg). First time using slow release, previously using the 5mg IR.
From what I've read the slow/extended release dex come in clear caps with little time beads inside. However today I opened the cap (opaque) and it is just white powder.
Sorry if a repost, but I couldnt find anything on SR dexies with only powder inside? I found one post on a different website and somebody replied it shouldnt be only powder and maybe the chemist tampered with it??
The pharmacist did not give me much information, but did tell me the drug won't work if I open up the capsule.
So my question(s)- (apologies if my they are naive)
Firstly does anyone know anything about SR dexies without the beads, just powder?
Is it just a case of the capsule being the only variable to make it slow release;
OR is the powder mixed with something to extend its release
ALSO,
If some person were to open the pill and ingest the powder alone; would it then be instant release, remain slow release or not work(like the pharmacist told me)?
