I'm clueless on these things but, why do people still buy content?
For Netflix (which we don't have), people like the way it's curated and easy to find stuff and the way you can stream it without fuss or breaking the law. The creators get paid (but nothing like as much as if you'd bought a DVD you only watch once, let alone going to the cinema.)
For Spotify, you can find almost anything you like, it learns from your preferences, it's legal, it streams without fuss, it pays a micro-royalty to every artist you play, and its little software brain can magically make up playlists from your preferences.
I'm still very much into downloading and torrenting, but you have to specifically go after that stuff, and have the storage space for it.
