i'm surprised there's never been a thread here for this topic!

let's discuss injuries!!! :D be them your own injuries, famous injuries, or just not great looking situations.

the immediate ones that come to mind are:

lawrence taylor breaking theisman's leg (right around 50 secs)
jack tatum paralyzing darryl stingley (couldn't find a video)
will allen's hit on willis mcgahee
clint malarchuk get's his neck slit by a skate blade.
richard zednik gets throat slit by jokinen's skate blade.
trent mclearly blocks a slapshot, takes a puck to the throat.
bertuzzi paralyzes steve moore (moore can walk now, but will likely never play hockey again)
dave dravecky's arm breaks while pitching in a big league game (can't find a video yet).
kirby puckett gets drilled in the head by a pitch.
herb score gets hit by a line drive back to the mound.
mike coolbaugh (minor league first base coach) dies getting hit by a line drive in the head.

there are so many more, but the more i start looking to provide videos for the one's i'm thinking of, the more i start to remember so many so i'll leave some for later. :D

noteable mentions however... jiri fischer (detroit redwings) collapses on the bench, new york rangers prospect alexei cherepanov dies of heart failure during a KHL game in russia, and many many more hockey injuries that i'm sure i'll bring up later :D.

I did my worst injuries riding dirt bikes.

Rotator cuff that took 8 months to heal.

Knee took 6 months.

Prior to that as a kid i was always taking skin off me knees and elbows and hands and what have you while riding billy carts at break neck speed.

Nobody can understand why but I have never ever broken a bone.

Stitches??? I have had heaps and heaps but none memorable.............lets face it, they only mask flesh wounds so stitches are really no biggy.

haha... i know, my buddy is a big redwings fan and i constantly give him shit for having bertuzzi on board. lindros i liked when i was younger and i remember ulf samuelson knocking his ass out for one of his many concussions on an open ice hit... it was nasty. lemuiex... i wouldn't expect you to like him. :D

all of the Aves pretty much! eah Lindros was better in his younger days the older he got the more of an ass he became. Oh does that limo crash when the wings won back in 97 count as an injury?

i'd like to say yeah, but it wasn't really related to the game. soooo.... fuck naw!

oddly though, just before that happened, i sent some cards to some wings players in hopes of getting them autographed, konstantinov and fetisov were two of them... i never got those cards back. :(

Ha ! after they won I think topps put out a whole set of wings cards and I got them framed, but I got lots of wings cards and even more crappy ones but I keep the red wings ones nice and neat

Wayne "Buck " Shelford was one of my favourite All Blacks when I was a kid. He is remembered for a number of things but most remember him from the "Battle Nantes" against those dirty fucking French.

Shelford made his Test debut for the All Blacks later that year against France in a 19–7 victory in Toulouse, and then was a notable victim of the infamous "Battle of Nantes" in the second Test. Roughly 20 minutes into the match, he was caught at the bottom of a rather aggressive ruck, and an errant French boot found its way into Shelford's groin, somehow ripping his scrotum and leaving one testicle hanging free. He also lost four teeth in the process. Incredibly, after discovering the injury to his scrotum, he calmly asked the physio to stitch up the tear and returned to the field before a blow to his head left him concussed. He was substituted and watched the remainder of the game from the grandstand where he witnessed the All Blacks lose 16–3. To this day Shelford has no memory of the game.[2]

Personlly I dislocated countless fingers in the bottom of rucks, most were snapped back into place and strapped. I lost count of the number of times my eyebrows were split open from headclashes. My most serious injury was my left shoulder that was dislocated a number of times (originally from a spear tackle). Unfortunately I lost a contract in Italy in the end after injuring it again against a South African prop's chin and I never played a game again. My only other serious injury would be chipping the head of my right knee's right condyl following a tackle playing social soccer. At least there was no ligament damage and I was 100% after having surgery to clean it out. I consider my self pretty lucky to still walk at 35 considering the amount of punishment my body endured over the years.
