Stimulants Sporadical usage of methamphetamine.

Sorry but that's the most retarded thing I've read this year. So you're telling me all those pre-workout powders out there that contain caffeine or other stimulants are actually recreational drugs, right? Where do you draw the line?

Don't ask me, it's not my line. I've only heard the term used in reference to injecting PIED users and diverted pharmaceuticals. All 'recreational' unless prescribed to treat a recognised medical condition.

If I was pushed, though, I'd say that yes, caffeine and other legal stimulants are also recreational drugs.

FYI most PEDs have about as much recreational value as aspirin.

'Recreational' doesn't mean 'gets you high'. It just means 'taken for leisure purposes' - including improving your bodybuilding performance or making cleaning your house more enjoyable.

Also aspirin is frequently used to potentiate illicit stimulants. :)

This is what's known as "off-label" usage... at worst it could be seen as misuse or even abuse, but there's nothing recreational about it.

Nope. That's a term that already has a meaning.

I don't really care how you label your drug use - if you don't want to think of your use as recreational, whatever. Just concerned that you might be attaching a bit of linguistic value to the labels that may prevent you objectively assessing 'safer' levels of use. (See all the people who convince themselves they don't have a habit because they're "not a junkie".)

I wasn't using it 'recreationally'. I was using it for its cognitive and athletic performance enhancing qualities. A recreational oral dose would be way higher than 20-30mg. Do a google search for Desoxyn. Methamphetamine is actually prescribed to a lot of people for legitimate reasons.
I liked it because it didn't raise my pulse or blood pressure as much as ephedrine or amphetamine, and instead of irritable/jittery I actually felt quite calm.

As I said before though, a lot of it depends on personality. I myself don't see recreational value in stimulants, then again a lot of people don't see recreational value in Valium (which I fucking love).
I'd say if you're depressed, you are more likely to become dependent on stimulants and if you're of a highly-strung nature, you are more likely to become dependent on sedative drugs.

You were using it to get high since the medication is not prescribed for what you took it for. Desoxyn is extremely rare to be prescribed for ADD/ADHD, or other issues people are prescribed stimulants for.

Sorry that I can't be bothered to dig up the actual research to support my claims, but methamphetamine is demonstrably neurotoxic at every dosage, with the level of damage scaling according to dose. On the other hand, 'regular' amphetamine is actually non-neurotoxic below a certain dosing threshold.

That being said, with low dosages and low frequency of use, any neurotoxicity will be so marginal as to be irrelevant. The main issue is controlling dose. There's a big mythos around meth being particularly bad in terms of addictiveness. I won't discredit any of that, but I will say that it's probably not compelling because of some horrendous fiendishness ala cocaine. Rather, it's compelling because it feels so smooth and harmless. You'll get hooked the moment you start thinking "I can just take meth and stay up another day" or "I can get less sleep than a person actually needs tonight because I can take meth in the morning" or "I can go out with friends tonight because I can take meth and be super productive tomorrow" etc.

Yes, I'm sure it can be a functional drug just like amphetamine can be a functional drug, but function turns into dysfunction as soon as you fall into the trap of thinking that just because it can temporarily sustain your 110%, that this is magically sustainable forever.

Whether or not you're liable to do that is something only you are likely to know. There are plenty of people out there who manage just fine. There are also plenty who don't. Staying well below "recreational" dosages and using oral/sublingual ROA (or at least insufflating... just absolutely don't vape or IV) will likely help a great deal in that regard.
