Sporadic Use and Drug Testing

I'm getting rehired at a job I had awhile back, and I'll have to pass a drug test. I've been a pot smoker for about 5 years now, but I really wanted to pass the drug test honestly, so I decided to stop and "get clean" till the test was over. I've been clean about a week now, but I'm going to a friends house who smokes regularly, and likely there will be some trees there. Most likely this is a common sense question, which I already know the answer to, but I thought I'd get a few opinions anyway...I assume that it will take about 3 or 4 more weeks to be completely clean, but I'm wondering if I smoke "just this once" if that will basically mean that I'll have to start all over again, or is there still a chance that I can be clean in the estimated 3 to 4 more weeks?

I'm thinking that I'll have to start the "countdown" all over again, but I figured I'd reach out and see what other peoples' experiences are. I don't really want to give up my "smoking" friends while I'm getting clean, but I'm thinking that I might have to in order to remain clean.

Any thoughts or experiences?
 
We're not really supposed to discuss drug testing issues here but I think you would be back to square one and have to start over again.

There's no guarantee that after a month you will test clean either. It could take longer than that.
 
Yikes! Sorry if I offended anyone. It's been a long time since I've been on the boards. I probably should have consulted the TOS first.

Thanks for the info, though! I figured if I smoke again, it would screw it all up, and I'd have to start over again. I just didn't know if anyone else had any similar experiences. :)
 
Yeah I had some I-cups and was able to test myself last year. People say it stays in your system at least 30 days if usage is daily. I only took a few hits at a time over a period of a week. I was surprised after 5 weeks being good I still tested positive. But my liver's compromised so I shouldn't have been surprised. So if you smoke tonight it will be like starting over again.
 
I know because it seems like many jobs I've applied for say they're a drug free workplace.
And decent jobs are hard to come by
