Splitting 15mg Oxycontin tablets

My doc scripted me 60 Oxycontin ER 15 mg for the month instead of my usual 3x 10 gr generic oxycodones. She wanted me to try them to see if they were more effective for me. These newer Oxycontin are ER and are designed now so a person can't dissolve them and shoot them via IV route. I don't do that anyway but I took them orally and I didn't prefer them. Maybe it was the ER ( extended release) formula, as I never felt them really kick in. I used my pill splitter, cut one in half and took it orally. That was much better. Way better. Reading about it, it's said to never split them in half as you may get the entire dose all at once. I didn't notice that. So I see my doc monthly and see her tomorrow. I won't mention spitting them but I will have a choice to switch over to them or stay with my old script of oxycodone. Anyone else split the Oxycontin ERs ( they are grey in color) in half and have any advice or experience to share about them?
