SPICE..! 5 Hospitalised, 2 Seriously Ill in Lancaster

You wouldn't even need to ban the artificial cannabinoids if weed was legal. Who'd buy them, when they could be growing their own Sensei Star?

Artificials are cheaper and easier than growing your own, what with the cost of rent and equipment and electricity. And you need to have your garden expertly dialed in to produce the gud stuff, else there's weak scraggly bud, small harvests, and or pests/illness.

The hit from artificial cannabinoids is more comparable to hash oil than to weed (flowers), far stronger and of a more consistent potency, which may also appeal to some people. Again if you have the time/equipment/expertise you'd make oil from your own plants but not every user has.

I remember getting JWH-073 back in 2009 thinking this was going to be 'the future'.

Several synthetic cannabinoids and years later and I'll still pick weed over them any day :)

How on earth do people end up in hospital from noids - when I'd overdo it I would just be unable to move, coupled with insurmountable dread/terror but not really in a position to call an ambulance...

Better than an outright ban on artificial cannabinoids would be a requirement for them to be properly labelled as to compositon and strength.

They would of course lose their "research compound" status anyway, once they were recognised as recreational drugs.

It really is one of the simplest plants to grow. They don't call it a weed for nothing.

Simple? Not as simple as buying a bag of 'noids.
You need to rent a growing space or dedicate some of your home to it, buy equipment and clones/seeds, pay for 'leccy, put in practice, and have (a lot of) patience.
Outdoors is another matter, but growing in UK/West Europe climate is not a guarantee for quality weed.

The appeal of pure cannabinoids delivered within 24 hours will still be there, even if growing were legal. At least until pure THC is available over the counter..

If herb were legal it would crash in price, I'd expect to be a quarter of it's illegal cost. If it were legal an awful lot more people would grow it & the market would flood, probably reducing costs further. If one were to smoke imported outdoor sensi from Jamaica or Africa, the costs would drop still further.

Before any of that though, it has to be accepted by people who actually use synthetics deliberately, that they pose a massive health risk compared to even the strongest cannabis. I've been looking closely at the harms drugs of all kinds cause & I've been looking for over 25 years, & I have not seen a group of drugs pose as big a risk to health as legal, synthetic cannabinoids.

Somebody on facebook posted that crack was safer than this shit & he ain't far wrong imo...

you should start writing for the daily mail.

Let's say the person using them is aware of the required dose / has done their research - what health risks should they be concerned about? (apart from the long term unknowns that come with all new drugs on the market).

From my admittedly limited experience of synth noids, I've never yet come across a class of chemicals which felt so 'wrong' as these do - which is in sharp contrast to the natural stuff which just feels 'right'.

Yeah.. wrongness. Haven't tried many, only JWH and AM2210. I really hope that, soon, there's one or two new cannabinoids out there that feel at least as good as THC and that they end up with a profile of acceptable and thoroughly researched health risks. Until then tho..

whereas smoking weed is perfectly safe for your lungs and so on :sus:

Better to compare 'noids to hash oil. With plain weed it's hard to get so-wasted-as-to-need-hospitalization, or to cultivate such a tolerance that you can't eat or sleep without it, but some of the hardcore hash oil users seem to be in a similar spot as 'noid users with regard to health and addiction.

As a massive weed smoker ive never been even tempted to try any synthetic cannabinoids, they've always sounded dodj. Before i got my script i was buying a fair amount of AH-7921 as a DIY maintenance drug - when i initially researched the internet for information on it one of the only references to its recreational use was as an active ingredient in one of these horrible branded synthetic weeds that the head shops sell

Whats happened to just buying weed? Its not a particularly difficult drug to source, seeing as how its the most popular controlled drug on the planet
