Speeding vs. law enforcement discussion

congrats on your anniversary a couple of months back. good stuff. :)

This is basically a bump, but also, I recently celebrated my SECOND consecutive year of having a clean driving record. I am not sure I have ever accomplished this before in my 14 years of driving.

Despite getting no tickets in 2+ years, I have not softened my stance on these issues, and I will be writing a length essay shortly, as soon as I can find my two pages of handwritten notes I have accumulated since I last argued in this thread.

^Fjones, as much as I enjoy reading your peeves & utter dismay of certain subjects, try not to go down the road of pure rage in a combat style essay. Second Opinion is a discussion forum & we welcome as much input as possible from all members, yourself included. However, as you pointed out, you have accumulated two pages of handwritten notes, "since I last argued in this thread."

Friendly discussion & putting your point across in a respectful manner = Good
Arguing with a hint of rage with anyone who has the audacity to disagree = Bad

When other members don't post because they fear a backlash, the whole forum goes downhill. You know what I'm getting at, no arguing please. You know it makes sense. :)

I have been hard at work preparing a logical thoughtful persuasive essay relying on logic, reason, facts, evidence, and such. It has been a slow work in progress that hasn't received much attention because I have been busy. It is not my intention to bring any rage to the table. I never got upset with people for disagreeing with me, as you implied; rather, I got irritated with those who chose to display an ignorance of logical reasoning.

I believe you may have misconstrued my use of the word "argue." In logical debate, as "argument" is not an angry exchange, but rather, a logical presentation of ideas to make a point. To "argue" as such is merely to "debate."

I won't engage in any inflammatory discussion, but I will quietly but forcefully refute any arguments that are unsound or uncogent because of fallacious reasoning.

I turned 25 recently, thank god for the sake of my insurance.

I have both my motorcycle and car race licenses, also rally race.

I've lost my license 4 times - and ended up a step 30 on insurance.

As for how I feel about it, do it on the track if you are good or go with the flow - I have pictures of my speedo on public roads 35mph speed limit doing 160mph+ and guess what ... I'm a complete idiot for ever doing that. I've taken my old hayabusa tuned at 252hp to 217mph on route 95. That I do not regret, I've been stunt riding and racing bikes since I was able to walk, but I do not recommend doing it unless you have serious training.

All in all - if you put others are danger , then you are driving poorly. I see this CONSTANTLY, be it too slow, texting, too fast, makeup , eating - whatever. I obviously will take a call and send a text here and there, and sure I still go slightly faster than the norm, no angel wings here, just saying look at how many people die because of gun fights, then car accidents. Remember you are behind tons of metal that is one loaded fucking weapon.

Good to hear it. As long as we all adhere to the SO guidelines, everyone will be happy. I look forward to your post. :)
