"Speed"

So I'm from Australia.. and when we buy "Speed" here it's always methamphetamine - either cut down or just badly cooked and full of toxic impurities.

But yesterday I received a gram of "Speed" from another Country - won't say where as that's probably sourcing? It was ridiculously cheap and the supplier claims it is 71% pure Amphetamine Sulphate.

I don't have access to a test kit right now. But it doesn't have a taste to it at all. A very slight chemical smell. And it doesn't dissolve well in cold or hot water. I snorted a fair bit of it and it seemed to get me going, but it didn't feel anything like meth or dexies (dextroamphetamine). Meth and dexies both affect me very similarly, whereas this product felt a lot cleaner but also somewhat weaker, even though I had over 3 points in a single dose. I know dealers never tell the truth about their drugs' purity, but it's the qualitative effects that have me puzzled.

A friend acquired a very similar product from the same source a while back and tested it, it came up as "amphetamine-type compound" and "primary amine" which would indicate amphetamine sulphate is a likely match. Is "Speed" in Europe usually amphetamine? And if so, why does it feel so completely different from dexamphetamine, which if anything should feel "Cleaner" being the dextro isomer?

Has anyone had any of this very cheap European "speed" GC/MS tested? It's pretty obvious what source I acquired it from, if you put 2+2 together? I'm just hoping it's not some more harmful amphetamine analog. It certainly has bang for the buck anyway..

Am I feeding myself some kind of deadly poison, or am I just not used to being sold plain amphetamine as a street drug, and this is the normal stuff they sell on the streets in Europe?

It may be the case that a certain ratio of the l and d isomer of amphetamine not found in adderall or Dexedrine gives an effect like you described. We can't know what you were sold, you'll have to have it tested to find out for sure. While I've never been to Europe
I have seen reports that street amphetamine is fairly common.

I've never had "street speed" (amphetamine sulfite), as it's not common at all in the USA, but what I understand, crystal methamphetamine is superior in just about every way, as far as intensity/duration/quality of the high.

No taste, slight smell, not soluble in water? A quick bit of googling would tell you that's not amphetamine sulphate, a salt which should dissolve freely in water (1 gram into about 9ml).

"Speed" in Europe is amphetamine, though it may be weak amphetamine with racemic meth thrown in to make it seem potent.

The dextrorotatory isomer is not only more potent than the levo, but much cleaner as a CNS stimulant with fewer peripheral effects. 3 points of 71% racemic amphetamine should get you pretty buzzed.

If there's no taste, it barely smells, and doesn't dissolve in water, it is not amphetamine sulphate (or hydrochloride, or phosphate, or any other salt, nor is it freebase, which is an oily substance).

Pretty much nailed it. I prefer dexamphetamine to methamphetamine though, because I'm not looking for a high as much as focus and functional CNS stimulation - I don't like my speed intense, I've got other drugs for that. The duration is a huge minus for me - meth lasts fucking ages. The side effects and crash are also much worse.
