hey, just wondering whether you know of anyone who has used speed to study for exams or big assignmeents.
a friend has been using for the last three days and not sleeping or eating a whole heep due to the reduced apatite.
what has happened to others and are there any other effects that longterm use like this could have?

are you talking about shit like adderall and ritalin too? a lot of people i know rail that shit religously to help them with homework, i think there's going to be some major sinus deterioration in the elderly of our generation. i find it sort of lame to rely on a drug like that to assist you in reaching your academic goals, why let any form of work get to you that much? i apologize if you were only referring to hard speed

i know people that use speed to study for exams and they swear on it. Personally, i'm never that motivated enough to waste money (i think it's a waste) on school, so i wouldn't do that, but if ur pre-med and u have ur big ball disection tomorrow and u forgot all of the glands, i suggest you stock up

I don't think I could study on speed.. Shit just doing coke I have no attention span..

I think speed is perfect for doing homework! It's perfect for anything wich demands high concentration...and when you're busy doing it, isn't difficult to stay focused...it's difficult not too!
When you use a lot of speed often anything can become an obsession (my opinion). That, on the other hand, isn't very perfect!

I passed the CPA (Certified Public Accountant) exam the first time while using meth. The national average passing rate of all four parts is less than 10%. So studying on speed does work. However, I would only recommend it for certain one-time assigments/exams and would not recommend using all the time.
SunEdlyte - How unfortunate you do not wish to make something of your life by educating yourself. I could use some workers, I am paying $5/hr. Hehe.

I asked my psych professor this once and he said speed, (actual speed not ritalin) is not good for tasks requiring long term memory or judgement on abstract ideas (ie exams or assignments). He said its much better for repetitive tasks that you know exactly how to do and just wanna do over and over. I know people who swear by ritalin...and thats a drug made specifically to help ppl concentrate so i'd go for that.

Speed is an expensive way to study for exams if you ask me.
When exams roll around for me, I usually take 25 mg of ephedrine every 4 - 6 hours and I find that this makes me work my ass off. If you want to stay awake for days straight studying, then a little bit of speed would be the way to go I guess.

de-void: I agree 100%
tree dub: why would adderall or dexedrine be 'lame'? Rx or not, amphetamine is amphetamine. I'd rather do Rx drugs than cut street drugs too.
also, staying up for days to study doesn't work. one might think they're productive, but it's all in the head. for me, memory is a problem after staying up a day or two on amp. Also, when I am off of it, I don't remember what happened the whole time I was on, forgetting whole weeks at a time...
no?

Just a question.. when exactly are you guys taking the speed?
I mean, are you having it the night before the exam and then studying like a fuckin madman all night before then going to the exam without any sleep?
I feel fried after losing a nights sleep, so I don't really know how this could help..
On the other hand.. I supposed doing it two or three days before, having a massive cram session, then getting a good nights sleep would be a good tactic..
Fuck.. if only I used speed in uni rather than acid.. I might have passed.

Well, I must say I also had a really bad experience with studying on speed (amphetamine): Recently I had a really important math-test...The three/four days before the test I took a bit of speed every night and learned for a couple of hours...till I new everything what I had to know!
On the day of the test I didn't took any speed and you know what...blackout! All the shit that was a piece of cake the night I was studying, now all of a sudden didn't made any sense-I scored a 3 (you would say a 'E' I guess-I'm dutch U C). So maybe it's not perfect...
But it is fun!

I have used meth for studying in a few ways:
1] The "damage reduction" approach. Taken 10 hours before exam in small portions to prevent sleep and make effective use of whatever time is left. Painkillers at hand. Short anxiety attacks ("I DON'T GET IT, CAN'T DO THIS") to be expected, this has gone terribly wrong once.

2] The "building up" approach. Taken the morning before for a productive day, and on the actual exam day. I have dosed this way often to dilute the "downside" across a few days: day 1 dose x, day 2 dose .5x + lots of caffeine, day 3 dose .25x + LOTS of caffeine... Went well once, have to try it again.
3] The "fuck it all" approach. Take some, take more, take everything, waste 12 hours on stupid in-house projects such as cleaning up desks, sorting mp3s into folders, talking to housemates, then don't show up at the exam. Also quite common for me

I've read an interesting article on a student who swapped his prescribed valium for meth once, which encouraged me in my ongoing research on studying on speed. It's too bad I haven't been able to find this article again. I must admit as of now, I'm an equally poor student with or without the meth, but I have to take advantage of extreme sports without any piss tests -- it certainly makes studying much more fun. Although my best experience (in a hedonistic way, I didn't pass the exam) was 1st year's Linear Algebra on MDMA. Unfortunately, never since have I been able to recall the experience, but I remember that somehow I felt able to visualize any n-dimensional space and "play" with them, and it surely helped me to stay motivated and enjoy the world of mathematics

okay... december 2000... my molecular biology midterm (2nd year)... fucking rough multiple choice exam. so i'd only been to half the lectures (they're damned boring) and it was the night before the exam.
the exam started at 9 am.
so i was REALLY tired.. probably hadnt slept in a while.. and tried to study this worthless BORING genomics stuff.. bla bla rho protein.. it was horrible.
therefore, i fell asleep sometime around 4 am.
at 9 am, in the earth sciences building two blocks away, the molecular biology exam commenced.
at 9:37 am, i woke up.
the next several minutes were filled with a lot of screaming bad things.
eventually i got onto their website and found out.. that if i went to the exam late, i'd be allowed the full 3 hours because of the snowstorm that had just happened.
so i solved the problem the only way i knew how
a *fat* line of glass
maybe 2
i was scared i'd have to explain why i was late.. but no questions asked. they gave me a paper and for the next three hours i was a storm of tweaking molecular biology.
i finished the short answer in 15 minutes.
the multiple choice.. well, i had that done fast too, but i stayed until the end checking it.. the questions are bastards and you never know if you're right.
i ended up with a 78 in a C-average course.
(this is not typical of my horrible GPA)
i went to four out of 26 lectures.

IMO it is not wise to take amphetamine with the goal of passing an exam in mind. These are seriously strong amines so if you do decide to take something for this purpose, I recommend you see you're doctor first, just so you can listen to his version of the story. Amphetamine should not be used recreationally either as this is a potent form of drug abuse. In small doses the effects of crystal meth are to keep the user alert & awake for long hauls of time. Even if the user is fatigued after a long hard week, several whiffs of strong base will stop the user from relaxing although it will not take away the aches and feeling of tiredness. In higher doses the user will notice the rushing sensation of euphoria and will grow to prefer this to MDMA because it is less fun and still allows them to think properly. Unfortunately users in this catagory are abusing and may regret this later on. Methamphetamine is a wonderful drug but its potential for abuse is phenomenal. It should be reserved for times of emergency where being competant is an actual matter of life or death. Exams are only drills, they should be taken seriously and you may very well find that crystal will be of aid to you here, particulary in physical chemistry. However amphetamine is more of a practical drug becasue you can get more done while you're on it but I do not think that drugs really improve judgement. But then again I don't really know. Medically it is a bad idea. But between you & me this may be a worthwhile experience that you look back upon as being worthwhile. Only you can decide what is best.
