Weird, as far as I know, you can't fuck up the genetics for biosynthesis of morphine. Requires a bit of research...
I've a question that's relevant actually, maybe @F.U.B.A.R. and @fastandbulbous know, but I've picked/brewed a lot of pods that have been papaver somniferum but with petals of the frizzy "pom pom" variety, usually pink or white/purple in colour.
I've read somewhere that you should only pick the ones with the normal, flat, red/purple variety.
Is that a load of bollocks then? I've noticed wild poppies growing in neglected gardens or in cracks in painting are usually very mild in effects, regardless of the type of petals. I've never noticed a difference anyway.
What's everyone else think? I think when I get off the methadone I might be able to do Fubsy's thing of having a once a year treat and growing a crop in a planter.
Unless you're sure they are Papaver somniferum, consuming lots of pods of other species is dangerous ast they contain alkaloids like the baines, which is a serious convulsant
No not really. I did get given some from my gf's mam's house years ago, but don't really remember the experience, sadly. Think valium was probably involved. Would like to try some proper pods sometime though, rather than the "wild" or, I suppose "urban"Did you ever try brewing dried pods you got from a florist site? If so, how did you find them?
I dunno if it's true, but I hear the hobby shop ones are sprayed or dipped in toxic shit to prevent abuse. The only thing I ever got from dried pod brew (and I'm sure they were Somniferum - the Gigateums) was violently sick the next day. On a couple of occasions I developed a red rash/spots on my body and decided no more. For all I knew I was poisoning myself

If you have no/low opiate tolerance I reckon they should be good.Could be. I did boil the pods before steeping to try and kill off any pathogens.
A quick search on ebay brings up a vendor selling 'untreated' Giganteums, so I could try those although they ain't cheap
Not by just harvesting seeds every year but deliberately you can either improve it or fuck it up. Not something regular growers would do but those creating new var. for pharma industry, food industry or for decoration would over many generations.Weird, as far as I know, you can't fuck up the genetics for biosynthesis of morphine. I remember hearing some of them spray them with lacquer or some other kind of preservative that makes em shiny and keeps them fresh, and also deters junkies. Although a quick Google search didn't really come up with anything so I could be full of shit.I have my doubts about them being treated with anything but heat to dry them. Putting some kind of poison on them or trying to inactivate them would be more expensive - any shop would buy cheaper untreated ones.
I've been doing it for years. I make my own smokeable opium.
Yes. I have a plot with about 250 plants. I do the whole process from seedling to pipe myself. It's sort of a project of passion. XDDo you grow your own poppies?
It could be a placebo effect you know, because mostly there's barely any 'good alkaloids' in the majority of the pods you can buy from the online florists etc these days. They've mostly all been 'neutered' in various ways.I find off boil water left to steep most helpful to me. 2-4 ground pods a day stops me rattling for gear and means I can sleep and feel OK enough. This is a lady with an abit of over 20 years on the brown, devil talc. Find these pods put me more stable than their green handcuff juice.
So much shit chatted about all stuff. The seeds are nutrition, the latex is the droog. Of course this varies from plant to plant. Leaves, stems, roots, flowers, seeds. You gotta do yer hw kids, thoroughly "he said, she said and I heard" nothing any one ever said because they heard it has ever really proven correct for me.
And the heroin didn't screw me up, It was the job I was doing screwed me up and screwed me over. Those who know, know. This 12 year cycle since the big drought is over.
Lol,, I've only just ditched the friends they said you'd lose in them adverts of the 80 s. Fukken leeches on the back of my misery. "are you OK, we are worried" mDe em all feel a little better for their empty materialistic lives, gave em something interesting to chew on. Piss heads. Nah, i chose heroin for an escape from pain and to self medicate my anxiety. 20 years it took me to work this out. Cancelled my subscription to "drug services cgl" who always ask the same questions "so why did you start" each time they Chang e my worker. I'm gonna kill them all off, go my own way.
Poppy power, you'll find you know who bri gs it in, how the heroin came in. It was advertised better than covid to all the crummy council estates. It came from Pakistan.Taxi driver told me a few weeks back drinking is OK for irish people cos its their culture, as i was telling him as an irish person it's no good and actually a constructed culture. I then told him ah yes, similar as heroin and opium consumption is part of your culture. "oh no, oh no, that is not our culture." yes it damn well is! I live in birmingham between a rock and a hard place. B6 and B8. The guests the government brought in to destroy its people.

Quite possibly. I think (if it's actually true) that whatever it is is some kind of varnish or something. Our backwards government would probably see that as "less harmful than opium abuse" and if someone poisoned themselves badly they'd probably not have a leg to stand on, legally speaking. Urgh I hate the world sometimes. There's absolutely no reason that if anyone wanted they could have a massive stash of cheap and extremely cheerful poppies in their kitchen right next to the kettle and cafetier.Yeah I've heard something about "spraying with something that deters people through nausea" but - takes some believing. If someone dies from treated pods due to the treating wouldn't that be an insurance cost in selling them?
