I was perscribed 20mg prozac for depression. I have been taking a mere 10mg a day for about a week, perhaps less than a full week. I know that prozac takes about 6 weeks to fully work, as of now I feel I don't really need it so I am discontinuing it's use. I have read it has a long half-life, and therefore is still in my system for a while, but with such a small dose for such a short time, I was wondering how long I should wait to dose on .2 MDMA I just picked up? I don't want to waste it.

Thanks.

In short- don't take the MDMA.

In long- SSRIs specifically counter a large-part of MDMAs mechanism of action. You will feel an effect and you might still have a goodtime, but it's going to be intrinstically different from taking MDMA without having SSRIs in your system.

Also- if you have just been put on anti-depressants and you feel like you don't need them any more it probably means that you do need them and you are feeling them improve your outlook on life. Thinking that you've 'gotten better' and 'don't need' your medication anymore (shortly after you start taking it) is a vicious cycle that all too many people with mental health problems find themselves trapped within.

You're right, due to the long half life, it takes about a month for all the fluoxetine to leave your body. However, since you've been taking low doses for a short period of time, I'd say 2-3 weeks of no fluoxetine before you use the MDMA.

There's no way to tell you the exact time frame you're looking for. Obviously, the longer you wait, the better.

This is an outright reckless thing to do unless you are experienceing bad side effects. Limonov has a point.

To answer your question, however, a good washout period for Prozac is about 2 weeks (14 days) due to the unusually long half-life of the drug.

In short- don't take the MDMA.

I don't feel this is "reckless" as I feel the main reason for my "depression" was the fact that I had just finished a week long DXM binge at 350-700 mg a day, and I felt extremely depressed for a few days, so I decided "get help" via prozac. I have used DXM EXTENSIVELY in the past 5 years. I don't feel I need to remain on prozac, and I basically just need to stop DXM. I don't like the idea of being chained to a pill to be "normal" anyways. So I stopped taking it within a week, maybe less, of taking 10mg, half my perscribed dose to "ween" myself on like my doctor said. It just so happened that the first day I stopped taking it, I got a call from someone who needed help to get some molly, and got a nice .2 for doing it, and didn't want to waste it.

Thanks

you were depressed......was on an SSRI for not even a week...... stopped taking prozac...... to take MDMA?????? You're ASKING for more depression.

Sorry dude, this is a harm reduction forum, not a "help me get super high" forum.

you were depressed......was on an SSRI for not even a week...... stopped taking prozac...... to take MDMA?????? You're ASKING for more depression.

This is an almost textbook case of a good way to dig yourself into a really deep hole.
