Speak Your Mind on the OD Rules

^ Usually (maybe?) thats what I do. I wrote the FAQ on shooting suboxone, so I better be redirecting, or else Im an idiot.

As far as I can remember, I have been. If not, I will start to.

Good idear.

And thats funny you say that because someone I know came really close to losing their foot because of missing a large shot of suboxone/diphenhydramine in it.

Youre right, I have no weighing decision on who receives bupe treatment and who doesnt, but I do have a weighing decision on the way the forum runs.

Read that how you wish.

I have noticed that some of the mods on these boards (I am not speaking of anyone in particular and this does NOT apply to most) frequently take this holier-than-tho stance, as if their shit doesn't stink. This (above) is an example of what I'm talking about. I would just like to remind the mods that yes they are human and will make mistakes. You are not, and will not, always be correct. I would just suggest that you try to be a bit more humble and less pretentious. You'll get more flies with homey than vinegar.

Anyway, before you just dismiss me as some ignorant noob, although I NEVER post, I have been a lurker for some time now on these boards.

I didnt mean to come off as "holier than thou" and I do realize that it totally came off that way.

Look at the post a couple posts down from that, I apologized for my attitude. Like you said, we are human, and sometimes life kinda sucks and its easy to take it out on a somewhat anonymous message board.

RaveJunkie, what you have to understand is a lot of these mods are dickheads before they became mods. Look at johanneschimpo for instance, half the board hated him because he would make idiots look even stupider, and that's why half the board loved him. He also has a grasp for what is right and wrong in this forum and that is why he is now a moderator. I agree he does now have the responsibility to be fair, but to be an asshole, well I would expect him to be one towards me if I did something dumb. But to be condescending (sp?), well, that's something that no one should be, greenlighter, bluelighter, mod, admin, jesus himself. It's just rude. But when you have been here long enough and seen everything to see and then you come upon the 30th "can I shoot xanax" post, as a moderator I can't blame you for being a little "holier-than-thou". EDIT: But I still don't think it's right. It's still rude. Politely (or not even politely, just not rudely) tell them no and close the thread.

^ Nice post. Well, the part in the beginning about me, mostly.

But you're right, thats just how it goes... at least in my opinion. I can be a dick at times, I hold it back most of the time (believe it or not), but like you said, the 10543rd "can I chute zanex" post makes me want to kill someone. But its different if they joined April 2008 or if they have been a member for years. Then, I feel like they deserve a spanking.

I'm going to try to keep it in check, keep it civil guys. I do have an anger management problem.

We dont care? Lets go over the "Job Benefits" of being a Moderator:

We work for free
Not only do we work for free, but we sacrifice valuable free time from our "real" lives to do this.
Its a thankless job. We get lots of PM's from angry posters, but never a "youre doing a great job!' PM from happy posters.

Point made ;)

I wouldn't want that job and I do appreciate you guys and the time you put towards these forums.

Lesson #238746 - Mods are humans too, not robots :) /writes down.

^ Last we knew, hfrs was in the hospital. She said she was given an IV line because she had the flu, and the nurse didn't properly clean the line so she ended up with fungus in her blood. She was in critical condition for a while. She came back and told us what was going on and said her condition had improved. We assumed she'd be able to start posting again soon, but she never came back after that. :( This was a year ago.

As for soundpharm, we haven't seen him in a long time. We had to replace him because this forum is too high traffic for us to have inactive mods.

I don't think we can wait for hfrs much longer. Regardless of the situation, we need active mods. :\

I think bluelight is great the way it is, I dont think it needs to change much, everything seems to work out well, the mods do their job of weeding out what really doesnt belong...

as for the search engine....maybe bluelights front page should be a search engine...lol...jk

anyways. Good Job To Bluelight and the Mods, you guys do amazing work.

I think the OD rules are absolutely necessary. Without them, we'd basically become totse, and nobody wants that. OD finally has a good set of mods to boot. The OD forum hasn't looked this clean since I first joined!

^ I believe that was when she came back to tell us what had happened in the hospital.
Ah I see. I wasn't sure what sonic meant by "a year ago". Whether that meant anytime in '07, or literally about 365 days ago.
Anyway, I always like hfrs, never knew what that stood for, but I always though she did a good job. And I forgot about soundpharm as well. Actually, a whole lot of the staff here changed when I came back a few weeks ago. Not "here" as in OD, but the whole site in general.

Awful shit like that harms me. It harms my brain, my intelligence which I have spent much time accumulating. I don't feel like losing it because other people can't spell or use punctuation.

This forum is intended for intelligent discussion of drugs and harm reduction, not incoherent rambling and "halp am i dieieing?" questions. People need to start using common sense and searching (whether it be here or google or a book) before posting. As delta9 said many times, being "high on drugs" is no excuse for acting stupid, not searching, typing like a mongoloid, etc.

i've been reading the posts on the last two pages of this forum and i want to thank Christ! for coming to my defense. they also made a lot of valid points that you should have taken into consideration, johanneschimp "People coming off meth are often in a fragile state of mind. Considering this was the OPs first time using meth he was probably scared, sleep deprived and in need of reassurance. He thought he was going to be high forever and this is often a reason why people commit suicide...I'm not saying that will happen but it is/was a possibility." those are just a few and here are some more, among many others
What if English WAS his second language? johanneschimpo said he would give a 'pass' if that was true. basically - the original posters thread has the potential to reduce harm. his spelling and grammar will not harm anyone." . and i do apologize for my bad grammer/spelling, it just wasnt really on the top of my priority list at that moment, as im sure you would assume. yes it was an incovinience to some but,

There used to be a rule about making your posts legible and easy to comprehend.
. if you see there it is stated by a mod there USED TO BE a rule about legibilty and what not, meaning currently, it does not exist. my thread was locked due to it being incoherent. there is no rule about that in the OD guidelines and no other threads i could find relating to my problem, even similar ones. think about that and you'll realize you had no reason to shut it down, and yes i was pretty mad when i went to check what advice people had given me and my thread was locked. im ok now but could be great, had you let my thread stay open and i'd have had the possibilty of acquiring some helpful advice. that all was prettty much the only thing bad i have to say about bluelight and its staff, with the exception of the "holier than thou" attitude I, and apparently other bluelighters, have noticed among certain mods. take it easy on people. they may have unimportant thread topics to you but to them it could seem like their last hope for survival. and as stated by Christ!, when certain posts are made, bluelight users can/are indeed in fragile states and to add on to their already stressful situation by not even giving them the time of day, is certainly not in the name of harm reduction. also, i dont understand why you close this and other important threads down, but leave up ones like CHARACTERISTICS OF GOOD COKE?. not only are there hundreds but theyre are multiple ones on the first damn page.

thanks for reading my post

"We, the Other Drugs Management Team, reserve the right to edit posts, close/transfer threads at our discretion."
From the forum guidelines, if you have read them. http://www.bluelight.ru/vb/showthread.php?t=374203

Now that I realize there is no longer a thread about legibility, I will make it. That should be rule #1 IMO.

Youre going pretty far with the milking of Christ!'s comments. A little far fetched, dont ya think?

What I meant was, it used to be in the guidelines but apparently got lost when we re-did them. In no way does that mean its not a guideline you should follow.

No one wants to make reading a thread a chore. If you want serious answers, take the thread seriously and make it so that people can read it, otherwise it will just be passed over.

Like I said, I didnt have a problem understanding it, I was just confused because it seemed like you were talking about 2 different things at once.

JC did the right thing. He closed it and gave you an opportunity to re-write it so that it was coherent. I dont understand why you have a problem with that?

Besides all that, JC makes a good point. We have the right to close any thread at our discretion. He didnt do it to be an ass, obviously, otherwise he wouldnt have given you the chance to re-create it.

And what more helpful advice do you need? Like I said earlier in the thread, if you dont know that you wont be high forever, you have no business taking drugs in the first place.

Maybe you should read through this whole thread before saying something like that. Its been said I dont even know how many times already. WE CAN NOT WATCH EVERY SINGLE THREAD THAT COMES THROUGH. If you see a thread you think should be closed, REPORT IT.

It DOES help out a lot when the post is coherent. If the thread is difficult to read, I don't even bother, as there are threads that I can read.

Just know, to benefit yourself when seeking advice/opinions/comments that you will get so much more in return if you put out a little.

Give a little, get a little.

did u delete my post that was posted like 5 minutes ago or did my dumbass clikc out of iternet explorer b4 posting the fucking page long thing
