Speak Your Mind on the OD Rules

And if you need a definition or abuse so much, I looked it up in a dictionary for you, here's what merriam-webster had to say:
"1 a: to put to a wrong or improper use <abuse a privilege> b: to use excessively <abuse alcohol>; also : to use without medical justification <abusing painkillers>"

Thats copied word for word... and its convenient how the parts in the brackets explain the this situation.

So do you understand what that word means yet?

Yeah - I understand the word - I just don't think it has any place on a harm reduction site. The definition you cite says why too, if you think about it....

i meant drinking. ive got a long night of drinking ahead of me. my bad. im on my 5th jack on the rocks, and i started my night off with 4 beers, so appologies for any typos-- im guessing ive had about 12 or 14 'standard drinks'.
I've got this mad craving for scotch on the rocks now (I'm a johnnie walker man myself). Damn you!

And yeah, this place could get heaps worst. All in all though, the tougher stance on unsafe/illegal practices seems to be working good.

I don't see why, and don't feel like trying too hard thinking this late at night. You could explain it, but it'll be pointless because you already lost whatever you and six were arguing about (feats of strength). He holds the modstick (festivus pole), thus he makes you rules. Although we do thank you for your comments/concerns/ideas (airing of grievances).

kompelz, ill drink johnnie walker blue, green, gold, or black with you any day but i HATE red for whatever reason. why hold back? they dont stop selling liquor til 2am! you still have time unless you life past the continental divide or in a dry county, and if so, my appologies.

oh, and i know it can get worse, guys. that was a beatles referrence no one caught.

happy festivus for the rest of us! (raises glass)

heres to "progress"

Just because no one commented on it doesn't mean no one caught it.
The beatles aren't exactly an obscure band.

Did you all catch my DJ Catfish and the Meatwhistles reference a few posts above that? Now THATS obscure.

i think the mods are, in general, doing a great job.
i do have a couple minor discrepancies.... sometimes mods close threads that are technically "against policy", but i think they could bring good discussion... but whatever, i won't nit pick.

keep it up guys :]

please dont nit pick, thats my job. i should have a compilation of posts that were arbitrarily closed for reasons either beyond my understanding of the rules of OD, or out of simple prejudice. its a retarded job but someones got to do it.

so what JC, you think no one noticed your dumb ass tripple posted? you think your shit dont stink? I dont care if it doesnt even have a smell. thats not the point.
and secondly, the beatles are a one it wonder and everyone knows it. im challenging you to a fight. right here right now. im gonna kick yer ass i tell you what.

What about a "closed" icon?

Reverting to the subject, I've bumped into so many closed threads of late that I wish there were some sign on the thread list to show which threads are already closed. So you don't eagerly click on a thread to which you think you can contribute, only to find it was closed 3 hours ago.

^ There is, its just hard to see.
To the left of the thread is the little envelope icon. And if you look realllll close (its hard to see), you can see a lock on the closed threads.
It would be nice if that was more prominent, or if a title said "closed: XXXXXXXXXXX" like it says "moved: XXXXXXXX."

If more people think thats an issue it could probably be instituted; I don't know. I'm pretty sure the envelope/lock thing is a vb icon and not changeable, but maybe it can say closed on the line with the title. I'll look into that.

Niandra, you are right and you are wrong. I actually quadruple posted. That is the wrong part. You are right about the beatles being overrated. Tom Petty just passed them in album sales a couple of months ago TOM FUCKING PETTY! Their only hit song, in the US at least, was "I want to hold your hand"... thats pretty gay for a group of 4 dudes, so what do you expect for god's sake? I mean sake as in Japanese rice wine. Anyway, at least Tom Petty has cool song titles like "running down a dream" and songs about his last dance with Maryjane - HA! Like that ever happened!

Oh yeah, and Petty is totally about harm reduction, he makes sure to use water filtration and if he shot up he would use micron filters for sure - he can afford them. The beatles were assholes, thats why 3/4 of them are dead (ringo is dead to me), and the only living one turned into Angela Lansbury somehow. Thats what popping preludin and injecting hamster shit all day long will do to you.

I bet Petty has a bluelight account.....

what would you say if i told you that i knew for a fact blahblahblah was tom petty? thats right, youd shit yourself.
i never really liked george harrison, although the beatles prove one maxim to be true for sure. only the good die younger than the other douches in their band. but when im 64 was pretty sweet, and so was blackbird. plus out of all the beatles ive only ever met paul mccartney, and at that i just bumped into him, quite literally(citywalk 03 or 04) and he was in no mood to talk to some stoned teenager at that point. maybe if id caught him 40 years earlier, but what you gonna do?

oh, and god's sake is actually hornsbys hard cider. i know, i was surprised too.

[edit] actually i just rememberred ive never met Tom but i had the chance once. we were both at the hollywood bowl 4th of july fireworkds show and i was only a few rows above him(sweet tixs) but he was with his family and it would have been too akward. plus i probably wouldve just embarassed him, since im sure he wanted to remain incognito. hes much taller in person than i thought. he lives in encino, so its not like its impossible to run into him again anyway

Yeah, there's a freeway runnin' through his yard. Oh wait, thats the long day livin' in Reseda. Same fucking thing.

Anyway, this is becoming the OD social thread, which was probably exactly what is was not intended to be, so I officially call this mind-speaking back to order.
You can send me your gay love letters via PM from now on.

Also, anyone who speaks of any of the Beatles OR Tom Petty from this point on will be banned. We have NEMD for that stuff ;)

Back on track......... NOW!

The mods are human just like the rest of us, and even though they've been given the power to close/edit threads and posts as they see fit, they're not machines and are certainly not infallable. If they make a mistake, they'll acknowledge it and fix it. We shouldn't be jumping down they're throats every time they make a simple error just because we're jealous the admins didn't make us the mods instead(I know I am;)). And besides, the mods have bosses(admins) just like everyone else, and it's not our job to say what's a good call and what's a bad call, that's the admins job. So why dont we just let both the mods and admins do they're jobs like we're supposed to?
So guys, keep up the good work. :) And lead as you see fit.

And since we do not promote it, we will not allow discussion of it. Plain and simple.

Are you saying that discussion of a topic equals promoting it? This is exactly the same argument used by conservatives against harm reduction / sex education. It is also open to exactly the same rebuttal: just because you ban discussion on it, doesn't mean people won't do it.

There are valid ways to significantly reduce the harm for people who are injecting ("abusing") their opiate treatment. A 0.2 micron wheel filter correctly used will remove basically all dangerous particles from a subutex mix. Is it now against the guidelines to explain how someone would use one to filter their subutex? How is that harm reduction?

It seems to me that the current crop of OD mods have an undeveloped understanding of both the ethics and mechanics of harm reduction.

this current crop is ALL about harm reduction, and if you dont get it, go back thru the last 7 or 8 pages. the only semantics debate thus far has been over harm reduction, and i challenge anyone to find anything said in this thread so far by any mod that was anti-harm reduction. even though im a miserable junkie and a drunk and chain smoker, im still 100% behind the harm reduction policy and i try to stick with it as much as possibly. im consistantly and constantly giving harm reduction tips, and i challenge anyone to find one post where ive done otherwise. harm reduction is the name of the game

Noooooo, that was directed at everybody.
I was just reiterating that we were asking people's opinions, as I somewhat took the thread off track for a while and conveniently brought it back around to where I wanted it to be.
So i was quoting you to state that we are still asking for feedback.
I'm on your side too ;)=D
