Speak Your Mind on the OD Rules

RULE #00 IF YOU DO NOT KNOW THE CORRECT ANSWER TO A QUESTION ABOUT SOMETHING SPECIFIC LIKE DOSING, MOA, CROSS-TOLERANCE, ETC. OR ARE UNSURE OF YOUR ANSWER, PLEASE DO NOT ATTEMPT TO ANSWER IT. THERE ARE LIVES AT STAKE WHEN YOU RESPOND TO QUESTIONS SUCH AS THESE!

QFT, Although I think the mods are pretty good at monitoring discussion on fentanyl etc already, all the threads I've seen have had the potential for harm spelled out pretty quickly.

You guys are all fine. Everyone who has chimed in with ideas is a good poster in my book; hence the reason why you came in here to discuss the future of OD.

The problems usually lie with new members. The majority of problem threads, and all threads in general, seem to be started by someone who has joined in the past month of two, said fuck the rules, and asked a question and has been discussed a thousand times.

I really think what need is to institute something for registration/starting new threads. I'm not a mod at say, PD, or BDD, but it doesn't seem like they get the influx of idiots, repeated questions, and flaming that we do here. I don't have any answers in this post, but IMO the rules are perfect, the problem is getting people to read them and then follow them. And as someone said above: "you can lead a horse to water..."

I suppose for now we can just wait, I've been happier with the status OD the past week than I have been the rest of the time I have been here, a month or so.... maybe it's because I haven't been around as much.... :\ ;)

^I hear what you're saying, but comparing OD to PD or BDD(or any other forum really) isn't fair IMO. OD covers the most individual drugs and drug topics. Now, I dont post in OD as much as I do in the other forums, mainly because I dont use many of the drugs talked about in OD, but it seems to me that the reason OD gets bombarded with repeated questions and flaming is precisely because there are so many different drugs one could talk about when entering OD.
The new members will get flamed at first, sure, but didn't we all? After a few months the "new" members aren't so new anymore and grow up and start flaming the even newer members. 'Tis the cycle of the bluelight life :\
But again, I support the OD in whatever they decide to do. I very much love this site and want what's best for bluelight and it's members.

Too many Chiefs - bad.

And I don't think there are any stupid questions. I did not know all the answers either until I researched it and/or asked somebody. A question for someone means they are at least considering the wisdom of their actions. Hopefully.

May I refer you to the Best of Bluelight section, thread "Can you fax acid?"
Then go to the lounge.

Don't believe your teachers - there ARE stupid questions.

Well, now see, you changed my heart and my mind on this. There really are stupid questions.

Can you fax acid? Jesus wept!

ROTFLMAO!!!!!!

i saw a car with a black bumper stick with the phrase "Jesus is Coming... And is he pissed" today.

I should apply for a mod spot some day and have my name changed to Jesus.

what exactly is this about?

Mods, how many people actually use the report button? I've had a few mods PM me, thanking me for using it, and I always found it a bit odd. You always seen people dissing threads and "ibc'ing"- does no one actually report these threads?

OTOH, maybe everyone will now be pissed at me ;)

Thats was probably me PMing you and thank you.
I do sometimes to reported posts.... because nobody ever uses it and I want to thank them.

If half the people who did the "IBC" shit hit the report button instead, we would be set.

So here it is:

People of OD. Please, when you see a thread/post that breaks any rule, or even if you think it possibly might. Please, please. press the report button. Its that exclamation point (!) in the bottom right corner of each post. Please use it.

I am a BL snitch. I will report rule breakers. When a forum is not properly policed, like the VH1 reality show sites, the posts dissolve into the foulest, filthiest, most immature posts. This is a tame example:

"Yea? Well **** you too, and your mother you c**k****ing babyr**ing beyotch!

Suck my ****! You can f*** off and die. why not go kill yourself now!" Your mother should of had an abortion you n****r l***ing c***!"
Pages and pages of this and slight variations gets old fast.

Not trying to beleager the point, so please report, folks. It IS anonymous.

I am grateful you are doing your part, not pissed.:)

yeah...

Seriously, some of you may not realize how big of a help it would be to us if you reported it. Its not snitching at all. Its not like the person whose post is being reported will get in trouble because of it. 9 times out of 10, nothing more than the thread being edited or closed will take place.

I know a lot of you really care about OD, and some of you have already been using the report button, but it would be a huge help if more people used it.

Althought its no big deal, this could possibly lead to one thread being reported by a lot of different people. So, if you run across a thread that you think HAS NOT been reported yet, report it, and leave a post at the bottom saying you reported it for other users to see. You do NOT have to do this if you do not want to. Its just a suggestion, thats all. It doesnt really matter if the same thread gets reported 100 times.

that's a good point. If it wasn't so much more work, it'd be nice if post-closure they could be deleted, say three-2-six hours later.

As far as I know (i havent been mod long enough), each forum does a mass pruning every so often. I think letting the dead threads go and make their way back to the last couple pages would make things easier by putting all the threads that need to be pruned in a few pages instead of having to go through each and every page manually finding threads to prune.

^ We arent going to promote the injection of suboxone anymore than we (I) already have. I wrote an entire FAQ on shooting suboxone under the buprenorphine section of the OD Directory that answers any question you may have on it.

We dont support the abuse of those programs. There are so many people, examples of some can be found in OD, who cant get on those programs because the doctors have to many patients, so we wont support someone abusing it when there are others who need it more than they do.

Thats my stance on it, at least. I dont want to speak for the entire staff.

I guess I find the use of the word "abuse" a little challenging. There are very few places in the world where injectable agonist pharmacotherapy is offered. Yet we know from research in those places that it definitely works for some. If someone wants to take a bit of initiative and make this happen for them, it's a bit unfair to start talking about "abuse"... get my drift?

When he is talking about "abuse" he is talking about abusing suboxone programs. Some people get on the program so they have a back up for when they can't cop any dope or try to get high on it. Bluelight believes that is wrong, and obviously won't support individuals looking for help into doing that.

Thats a very narrow minded way to look at it. I really cant believe you just said that. Of course, injectable buprenorphine can be effective. Unfortunately, the majority of people who are on bupe are either on suboxone or subutex. There is a HUGE difference between injectable bupe and suboxone/subutex. Maybe I should have made it clearer (then again, I didnt think someone would actually say what you just said) that I was saying we would not support the injection of suboxone/subutex. No one should be shooting those for the obvious health reasons, but if you have an argument against waht I just said, Id love to hear it.

And Nickatina is right. We wont support any type of abuse of it because if you are on it just as a temporary fix for the times you cant get high, then you are wasting space for someone who would use it to its full potential.

^correctly filtered subutex/suboxone is as safe to inject as any drug. It would be against harm reduction principles to withold information on safer injecting of these drugs.
