Speak Your Mind on the OD Rules

The forum does seem pretty tame right now. Either someone else is dealing with all the bullshit, or things are actually getting better. I think that no matter what, there's always going to be a group of users who we're going to have to fight with. Some kids just don't give a fuck.
 
I was just looking at the Other Drugs Directory under the Oxycontin part and I think there could be a much better link than the preexisting one concerning IV.

The link goes to a thread with little to no information on the "safe" injection of Oxycontin.

I think this thread would be much better.
 
If you always berate poor thread starters who are trying to clarify some question with "utfse," you won't see the great phenomenon of mass discussion and experience yielding more accurate answers.

Unless you have 20 threads on some subject, you''ll always have that one "internet pro" in the thread who spits out some bullshit that he pieced together from totse, cbs, and his mom into one collective assured statement that people soon start to accept as (bluelight) fact.

Overzealous modding leads to people relying on outdated threads from 2003 to get their information and questions that may sound silly but could have led to some productive discussion never coming about.

What, are you gonna be closing potentiation threads now just because somebody's asked about potentiating that particular substance before? Letting those threads go is the only way to help clarify a topic and limit the adherence to drug 'folk belief.' Of course, you can get the exact oposite to happen if you let all threads run loose, and believe me, I get as frustrated as anyone with the same stupid questions being asked repeatedly, but nonetheless, this is something to be careful about....

OK hear me out here, I dont know how good the admins are at PHP, but if you could implement a serch filter for new threrads with key words such as "benzo" "methadone" etc. ... well when the search filter recognizes those common words in the thread title, it automatically takes you to a page that says:

STOP​

your question may have aleady been answered,
Try this Mega thread and the directory and search first and
if you still haven't found the answer,
click here to post this thread.

PENALTIES FOR REPEAT OFFENDERS
or HAVE A NICE DAY
or both so you can play good cop/bad cop​



So if Joe starts a thread on "Benzo half-lifes?" the automated page offers threads to check out before giving them the option on the bottom to complete amd publish the thread

It could actually be pretty easy to write .... a couple if='s and when='s and utfse.php written up and you good to go.

Nickatina and lyXw33d both raise good points.

I still feel utfse is appropriate in some cases though. Sometimes you can just tell people have put absolutely no effort into researching their own question and then they expect everyone to spoon-feed them simple answers. It gets on my nerves a little bit. For instance, this thread:

I actually typed "dihydrocodeine ceiling effect" into google and the first two links were to bluelight threads.
 
The unhappy reality is that boundaries must be in place. I know we have got the don't give a toot types, but they seem to fail to understand that there has to be limitations on free speech. Sucks don't it? GROW UP!:p

what about the idea to hire more "semi-mods" and make this place fully moderated? meaning before any thread is being aproved one of the semi-mods has to unlock them.

We could hire a lot of people, create a special usergroup with special priveleges and get this place to be fully moderated. That way we could avoid redundand questions.

You really are cracking down quick huh?

I have to say I stongly oppose.

The problems we have now we will always have - stupid people with stupid questions that make threads. Other than that, what is the problem? Where is the epidemic? There's no drug dealing or sourcing, flaming has gone down probably 100 fold since I joined and another 10 once GM joined as mod (OD was very shorthanded in that regard at that point).

Honestly, I still can't tell what the changes would be but things are fine right now. We just need to make the current rules CLEAR and send out warnings. The moderation staff is on point for the most part (you cant be on every thread everywhere) but I do not think anything drastic needs to be done.





But if you do it I would prefer a more george bush like approach to the situation. Scare OD into thinking LE breached everything they have ever written and are searching into it. Then slowly take away all posting rights we have on the board with new the Bluelighter Act and the Protect OD act. Keep them cool while you change the regime, it works the best if you want to keep the population down (which shouldnt be too much of a problem since this is OD)

And I don't think there are any stupid questions. I did not know all the answers either until I researched it and/or asked somebody. A question for someone means they are at least considering the wisdom of their actions. Hopefully.

i don't say chiefs. I just say more people getting the priviledge of unlocking posts. If there is some seriously useless post, the unlocker can contact the OP and send him the rules or explain him why his thread is not appropriate. If he still has any further questions or is upset the thread gets unlocked and the main people (the mods here) can take a look at it.
I personally would be happy to see someting like that. If i'd get a lot of posts regarding redundand stuff i'd simply let them know that they need to search, and if they still aren't satisfied or upset the thread gets passed on to the public and the mods can rule on that. Or maybe the user just has a quick question that does not need to be asked again, since it has been covered million times, and you happen to have a link to a thread handy. If he still wishes to discuss the thread simply gets passed on.

Anybody sees what i mean?
 
one piece of advice to the OD mods.

you guys really really really should closely monitor threads that have members (especially newbies) asking about fentanyl patches (or other extremely potent drugs). all it takes is for one idiot to mix up mcg with mg and the OP could be dead, just like that.

it is amazing how much responsibility people put in the hands of fellow bluelighters, some members (i won't get into names) just DO NOT comprehend the consequences that may come as a result of a misguided post/reply. any false, or downright dangerous replies to threads like these IMO should be deleted immediately to prevent people from 'half reading' a thread and going based on bad info.

maybe it could be one for the new rulebook.

RULE #00 IF YOU DO NOT KNOW THE CORRECT ANSWER TO A QUESTION ABOUT SOMETHING SPECIFIC LIKE DOSING, MOA, CROSS-TOLERANCE, ETC. OR ARE UNSURE OF YOUR ANSWER, PLEASE DO NOT ATTEMPT TO ANSWER IT. THERE ARE LIVES AT STAKE WHEN YOU RESPOND TO QUESTIONS SUCH AS THESE!
