Speak Your Mind on the OD Rules

Well, after reading through this entire thread it makes me glad to think that hopefully soon OD will be a much tighter forum of a much higher quality.

The mods have my support 100% in cleaning up the place, I'll have to make sure to use the report function more often ;)

Yes, yes I totally understand that harm reduction is the priority here. But reading drug pornography can be very enjoyable.

What kind of drug porno are you after? Erowid and Trip Reports are good for that, basic drug discussion where a lot of noobs start off could also provide for your particular fetish =D

I'm satisfied with this forum, the policies and the moderators who control this forum. This section is easily my favourite since I joined BL.

I'd really hate to see this become like Australian drug discussion where every second thread gets closed for no apparent reason. I like the whole idea of using discretion when it comes to closing threads, it should keep everyone happy.

Also, perhaps you guys could be tougher when it comes to warning repeat offenders? I know it's hard to keep track of people, but if one person keeps fucking up, they should be warned eventually. I mean, mistakes can and will be made (even if they have read the rules and all), but if someone is flagrantly disregarding them, I'd like to see some punishment.

Yes I will be honest, I get the feeling you guys are planning on locking down the forums. The appeal, to me, is the array of different posts - some of them i could do without, admittedly, but all in all the rules should not be too tight. It creates that same hesistation to post certain things that we shouldn't encourage.

I think the rules should be simple, relaxed, and only include things which are extremely illegal/immoral/annoying.

I have been lurking this forum for a while, but just joined today. I think the changes will bring a good thing.

.

No talking about why we do drugs? I do drugs because they make me feel great. Theres nothing that feels better than a hedonistic drug frenzy. This sounds almost very anti-drug, like I can only talk about things like the effect drugs have on the quality of life. Like an NA meeting or something.

^ Its not anti drug.

Your reason for doing drugs is the same reason everyone else. What else is there to discuss?

Youre choosing to think the effect on the quality of life is all you can talk about. Thats not true. There are many other things to talk about, like chemistry, dosing methods, health effects, just to name a few, that you can still talk about.

What were saying is, if you want to talk about the abuse of drugs, dont talk about things like "i took this much of drug x and y and felt all these different effects." None of that stuff is important. If youre going to talk about the abuse of drugs, which this one rule is talking about, then you can talk about how to avoid abuse, treat abuse, or the negative effects of abuse.

This is one rule. Its not the only rule of the forum. There are still tons of other aspects of drug abuse that you can talk about. Using drugs and the effects they have on you is not the only topic of conversation when it comes to drugs, so dont try to make it look like we are seriously limiting the topics.

I have a query about this part of the guidelines:
We will not allow discussions on abusing Methadone Maintenance or Suboxone Treatment Programs.

Does this mean that discussion on safer injection of these substances is not allowed? I hope not.....

^ We arent going to promote the injection of suboxone anymore than we (I) already have. I wrote an entire FAQ on shooting suboxone under the buprenorphine section of the OD Directory that answers any question you may have on it.

We dont support the abuse of those programs. There are so many people, examples of some can be found in OD, who cant get on those programs because the doctors have to many patients, so we wont support someone abusing it when there are others who need it more than they do.

Thats my stance on it, at least. I dont want to speak for the entire staff.

I'm all for this, as the sites main aim is harm reduction by having threads discussing combination and how to get fucked up we are just encouraging the wrong thing.

People come here to find out how to find out how to take something safely, they end up taking twice as many drugs and trying all sorts of new things. Is this what we want this website to be associated with? I know I wouldn't have tried half the drugs I have if I didn't read about them on here. Maybe I'm going a bit offtopic here.

Well if you want to talk about why you do drugs; that they make you feel great, you can do that in Drug Culture.

If you want to talk about the reverse, you can do that in The Dark Side.

Thuggy, you know we (I) are (am) not anti-drug. ;) Well maybe you do, maybe you don't. But I'm not. But I am anti-fucking-your-life-up-because-of-drugs. Either way, that kind of shit goes in The Dark Side, not here.

In my opinion, Other Drugs(yeah, I have to bold all the forum titles) should consist of solely objective information. Now thats just me, and I know thats not possible, but I do believe when this forum was conceived it was intended to look at things objectively; but of course sometimes a subjective viewpoint is necessary. Sometimes.

Basically what I mean by that is I'd like to see (and I think OD was intended to be) 90% facts and 10% opinions, rather than than what it has been drifting towards - the exact opposite.

So I was just in a thread, a random thread, and I made liner notes on the posts. Keep in mind this is just my opinion, not necessarily how the other mods or OD/BL as a whole feel.
The thread is here: http://www.bluelight.ru/vb/showthread.php?t=374400
And here's my comments, the just line the numbers line up with the thread ( # located in the top right corner of every post).

1 If you were concerned about the APAP intake you could have asked the question BEFORE taking the pills. But really, you could have done a very fast and easy search to see that that amount of APAP is not going to harm/kill you, but .shouldn't be taken often.
4 True, but the way you phrased it isn't helpful.
5 Yeah, he should have, but he didn't, so all that accomplishes is postcount +++.
6 You're right. And LOLWUT on your "P.S." part. My random rough guesstimate is that its the equivalent of taking about 4 somas, nothing too crazy.
13 Everything you say is correct.
14 Proud of you for not flaming!
16 Helpful for recommending milk thistle, which promotes healthy liver function.
17 I guess the "mother fucker" part wasn't necessary, but I see agree with the message you are conveying.
18 Retarded.
19 Most helpful post in this thread. Actually tells the remedy. (Though I was under the impression NAC had a terrible taste - thats something for me to look up later).
21 You didn't even read his post. It was only 2 lines and a "thanks" and you didn't bother. Oh well.

Those are just thoughts that instantly came to mind when reading the replies. It wasn't my intention to do this when I started reading, but for some reason it was begging for it. If I said nothing about a post, that means I have nothing in particular to say about it; its not breaking any rules or anything.

Now, if the other mods agreed somewhat with what I wrote, then people might get an idea of what is and is not kosher, but I don't expect full agreement on anything, anywhere. Consider this a rough draft. What it is a rough draft of, I have no idea.

Ooh, you forgot #7: Totally excellent for enlightening whoever asked about meprobamate and didn't look it up themselves! ;)

But as for the Stalin-like-lock-down, I agree with GM that after the place is cleaned up then things could be relaxed a bit again. But you can't expect everyone to tighten themselves up, sometimes you need to do it at gunpoint in order to achieve your objectives (also very Stalin-esque).

Ive always admired Stalin.

But yeah, I dont think any of us expect EVERYONE to start following the rules. The fact is, most people will follow the rules, but theres always a couple who will still piss in your pool.

There are other forums to do that in. Other Drugs in not the place.

Has making subforums ever been considered? For instance....Opiate Discussion, Benzo Discussion, Amphetamine Discussion etc.

Seems like it would take care of the cluttered OD forum.....JMO JS NBD
