South Florida has a flakka addiction and it needs to stop

A new synthetic designer drug called flakka is sweeping South Florida streets.

And this drug comes with nothing but bad news.

It looks like white crystal powder and when smoked can cause delirium, delusions and hallucinations.

The drug incites violent fits, nightmarish visions and aggression.

It gives users superhuman strength.

Oh, and a hit only costs $5.

This week Fort Lauderdale police announced a man streaking across Broward Boulevard traffic was a victim of flakka, which left him believing people were chasing him and trying to kill him. Matthew Kenny, 34, later told cops he hoped a car would hit him so the imaginary people chasing him would stop.

This is no joke.

Since January, flakka has led to a naked gunman on a Lake Worth rooftop yelling that someone was trying to kill him; a man trying to kick in a glass door at the Fort Lauderdale police station because he thought he was being chased by a mob; and another man impaling himself when he attempted to scale a security fence at the Fort Lauderdale station because he was trying to escape murderers.

Trying to break into the police station.. now thats paranoid. Sounds like this "drug" is awful.

But seriously, and I don't want this to seem racist--what's the difference between the forum users who have been using this RC for the better part of a decade? This has been available from the same importers as other importers for at least 5-6 years.

Are these new street users just not doing the same due diligence in terms of dosage and frequency that forum users did?

Or is there something inherently different with the people? Levels of education differ, as I'm sure do diet and probably even local environment and community factors..
 
I feel like the people here research (if possible) before hand for things like dose, effects, etc... to get somewhat of an idea what they are taking. Street level doesn't usually dig that deep.
Personally I liked WAKA better ;)

the second article linked names A-PVP as this "flakka" stuff. it also says that it is legal which is incorrect, the wikipedia article clearly says it was emergency scheduled. more bad reporting from the drug alarmist media.
 
Another day, another "new epidemic."

I bet not a single person who uses this drug calls it "Flakka." Maybe shitty yellow journalism rags have a competition every week for who can come up with the best "slang term" for the next drug they villify.

RC stims are bad news all around. The people who use them get a special kind of fucked in the head half the time off em.
 
RC everything is bad news. The first generation grabbed from journals and old pharmaceuticals were ok, but now we're diving further and further into totally unknown territory every time a new round comes out. For decades we had the standards which had a ton of research and experience behind them, and now people all over the world are ordering and ingesting chemicals that 2 months beforehand had never existed anywhere in the universe that we know of. That's fucked up, and it's gonna bite us in the ass if we let this situation keep progressing.
 
The rc stims in general though just seem like horrible alternatives to methamphetamine/cocaine and they seem to have methamphetamine beat when it comes to making you batshit insane as a result of repeated doses.
I dont understand why someone who actually knows stimulants/doinitrite would choose any of these rcs over meth/cocaine/amp
 
ease of availability mostly that and some of the rc stims are better than street speed by a long way

but you're right about the making you bat shit ive had more problems because of these than the worst lsd trip has done

Seriously these chems come out so fast its scary. And it's true that theses RCS have a higher tendency to make ppl act insane, binge and have hallucinations. If they really want to speed get the real deal. Meth is all over the place.
 
New designer drug Flakka can leave users violent with superhuman strength

IT can make you sweaty, paranoid, and delusional — this is the horrific new drug that experts fear could hit Australian shores.

Flakka, also known as the “$5 insanity” and “gravel”, can be lethal and send users into a complete rage, shaking violently with an almost superhuman strength. It can also be deadly.

The so-called designer drug that has already made its presence felt in the United States, from Florida to Texas and Ohio, has not been recorded in Australia yet.

Several Australians researchers, spoken to by news.com.au had never heard of Flakka.

Doctors in emergency rooms abroad have already seen the ugly side of drugs but Sydney hospitals have not treated any Flakka victims they are aware of, although one specialist said the effects were so similar to other drugs it wouldn’t be immediately obvious.

But like other drugs that find their way to Australian shores, including the very similar bath salts, it may just be a matter of time before some seriously dirty side-effects pop up.

And with its low price, US authorities say it has the potential to be more dangerous than ice.

The Australian Federal Government this week formed a taskforce to develop a strategy to beat the ice epidemic, but drug pushers are creating new types of drugs like Flakka, faster than governments can keep up.

And while bath salts have already been linked with some brutal crimes the fear is Flakka users will follow the same path.



Users are known to snort, smoke, inject, and swallow the drug.

Users become paranoid — even before a comedown — and often hallucinate. Most doses last three-to four hours.

And it’s making them crazy.

In the US a man was found breaking down the door of a police building.

In another incident an armed and naked man was found standing on his roof and yelling “I feel delusional, and I’m hallucinating,” while in another episode a man attacked an 86-year-old woman.

There was also a man who impaled himself through the groin on a fence.

Don Maines, a treatment counsellor who works with a Florida police force, told the Sun Sentinel just how dangerous Flakka was.

He said the concoction was so bad even hardened drug users were trying to avoid it.

The whole thing about "superhuman strength" seems designed by the media to encourage young people to try this dangerous drug.
I hate mass media sometimes :X

Kids, stick to the drugs that humans have been using for centuries, and it is much, much harder to go wrong.
You have no idea how RCs are going to affect your body, and worse, nobody really knows.
