Soul shatter?

That's impossible. There is no such thing as a "soul."
If you mean consciousness, any psychedelic in sufficient dose can do that.

Can anyone explain what they understand their "soul" to be?

Otis Redding?

The person saying that there is no soul doesn't have to provide evidence. The fact that there is no tangible, measurable thing is evidence enough. The people saying a soul does exist need to provide evidence, as it is pretty absurd to claim that something that is not measurable or detectable by any sort of current technology "exists."

If I claim that invisible purple monkeys are floating around my head, and you disagree, its not a good argument for me to ask you for evidence that these monkeys don't exist. I am making a positive claim that they do, an absurd claim, at that. so the burden of proof would be on me.

please point me towards your evidence

Occams razor. Kthxbai. Also, you're the one making an outlandish claim, the burden of proof is on you. But just in case, I can very much prove all psychological constructs that lead to the creation of the whole "soul" shenanigans. And yes, Reckless understands :)

Reckless is not completely off though, providing evidence that something is not there is the other way around. There needs to be evidence that something is there. You know, innocence until proven guilt and the whole basis for scientific research. (I mean, has there been any serious scientific research into the not-being of God? The idea is just stupid, how can you measure that what isn't there?)

That being said, don't simply dismiss things. That's just narrow.

Yes, it is. You need to take the simplest explanation for stuff.. So what's simpler, obviously provable correlations between brain and behaviour, or magical space energies nobody ever observed or measured?
