London, July 25: Scientists have developed a device that can be used to detect whether someone is driving under the influence of drugs through sweat pores in the fingertips.

The device applies gold nanoparticles coated with antibodies to a fingerprint, so that antibodies stick to antigens on specific metabolites.

This should not be legal. I'm tired of these continued developments of the government breathing down our necks. They want to continue to take our freedoms and its bullshit.
 
seriously, my car accidents have happened when i was in w/d from opiates.. what about pain patients who are dependent on their meds?
 
Nobody who is in power wants to discuss the fact that these tests detect what the driver has been taking over the past few days, not prior to driving.

Many recreational drug users will lose their driving privilege for no reason.
 
I don't think this method will be widely used for precisely this reason. There would be lots of complaints from people coming home from concerts and failing this test. It won't substitute for impairment tests or breathalyzers.
 
That's seriously fucked up.

For once, I'm glad to be in the US - although I believe there's shit like this in some states as well. -_-
 
this is all a scare tactic, Ive read reports on this already this really isnt going to happen anytime soon, the technology has flaws that still need to be worked out, the laws will have to be approved and changed and its going to be expensive.
 
I have a fucking DUI because of pain meds that i had to take this is only going to further make me not ever try and get my license back if this shit starts happening. I hate what this world is coming to.

And the f#$@%ed up thing is, the state is not doing this because they care about the welfare of others, they are doing it because they know it is profitable.
 
If this becomes law, elected officials should have to submit to the same tests before entering into parliament or whatever that building is the government types gather in over there to get into fist fights over debates and policy (MAN I love watching their government in action, CSPAN would be the number one rated channel if our elected officials went all UFC like they do over there!)

That said, all Florida law enforcement, state workers, and politicians should have to submit to drug tests just as often as the welfare recipients do (if that has become official that is..). 'we' pay for welfare with taxes same as we pay their salaries, I see no difference.
