Songs about drugs that no one knows are about drugs.

i think just about all of ozzy osbournes songs seem 2 b about drugs or drug buzzes or getting hooked on drugs
spose the guy wud know
im guessing lucy in the sky with diamonds has bn mentioned, cant b bothered flipping thru all the pages

lol...Well not so funny.
I Used to listen to "Jane says" and "Perfect day" EVERY day after i had my brekky shot and before i had my real shot(lunchtime:))
I always thought they were very obvious
"chinese rock" by the Ramones is another good one,as is "Under the bridge"....Not as good as jane say's though
:)

She Talks to Angels, by the Black Crowes....I know the first line says "She never mentions the word Addiction, in certain company" but it doesnt say anything else directly related to drug abuse. Any thoughts on what Chris Robinson means when he refers to her delusion that she "Talks to Angels"

and Sevendust -- "Black" "Im Minding My own business, I aint doing nothing wrong..." I think he is referring to chiefing out...

psychedelics???
it's about cocaine. read the whole lyrics please.
also, "SUNSHINE IN A BAG" how does that imply psychedelic use???

I've heard that sunshine in a bag was a reference to inhalants (huffing).

chaosgardens, funny you should mention New Order. One of the other great new wave one hitters was "Melt with You" by Modern English. After I started using e, and used it alone with a girlfriend on the beach, the lyrics of that song made sense to me for the first time.

No one mentioned Terrapin Station, and I know there are some other deadheads out there. I don't really remember if there are any specific references in the lyrics, but whenever I did a really good shot, it felt like all the blood rushing through my veins was playing the music proceeding up to the climax as my rush peaked(Heroin Da da da da da Heroin! do do do do do And the whistle is screaming!, Heroin da dada da da[those were the lyrics that my body sang anyways...]). After I had experience with dope and had felt that time and again there was never a doubt in my mind that it was written about the rush from dope.

U2- Running to Stand Still
MLWTTKK- Thirteen Above the Night(my gf says- best heroin song ever)
Stones- You Can't always Get What You Want(but you sure as hell try sometimes...)
Sublime- Pool Shark(And almost every other song that came out of his heroin crippled mind)
Anything from Elliot Smith in the nineties...
Garbage- Push It(maybe we're wrong but it definitely feels like it's about dope)
The Cure- Open
Morphine- Honey White(Honey White made a deal for some angel food/ everybody told her that it was sweet and good/ Poor Honey)
Marilyn Manson- Coma White
The Boss- Darkness on the Edge of Town(Maybe we're just dope addicts who read into things too much, but then again...)
no one mentioned Skinny Puppy(though that's not too much of a secret)

I'm sure there are tons more, but these are the ones that immediately came to mind that hadn't been mentioned previously in this monster of a thread.

And by the way Trent Reznor was never a heroin addict.

Sorry about that, I don't know how I got that mixed up. And yes, I have heard the song. How else could I possibly form the opinion that he butchered Reznor's song?
Eh it was kinda a rhetorical question. :)

And yeah, can I just restate something for everyone who intends to post in the thread? Okay then.

This thread is for songs that ARE NOT OBVIOUSLY ABOUT DRUGS.

Weak and powerless is obviously about drugs, I don't think anybody who has listened to it thinks otherwise.

Oh, and You Can't Always Get What You Want isn't about drugs. There is a mentally disabled man named Jimmy who walks around town smoking a cigar and talking to random people in Excelsior, Minnesota. The Stones met him when they played in Excelsior in the early 60's, and he inspired them to write the song.

I have heard that the Marvin Gaye song "Ain't No Sunshine When She's Gone" is about cocaine, but the "usual" explanation, that it's about a lover, fits about as well. Gaye was definitely a hard-core blow user, but that only makes this a tantalizing possibility.

does anyone know if the song "lets get blown" by snoop dogg & pharrel williams is about doing coke, one of the lines in the song is "can i get my thrills(girl), you know you want some more girl...(pharrel williams)

maybe im just an idiot and its about getting blowjobs.

In Your Eyes - Kylie Minogue

What on earth am i meant to do
In this crowded place their is only you
Was going to leave now i have to stay
You have taken my breath away

Is the world still spinnin around
I don't feel like coming down

It's in your eye's
I can tell what your thinking
My heart is sinking too
It's no surprise
I've been watching you lately
I want to make it with you

Destiny has a funny way
When it comes and takes all your cares away
I can't think of a single thing
Other than what a beautiful state i'm in

If that song isn't about taking ectasy I don't know what is!

I hear they've got these weird things called emotions. Sometimes people even feel happy without taking drugs. Isn't that weeeeird?

True, but most songs are about drugs or produced while under the influence of drugs however.

Edit... Most good songs that is

Third eye by tool sure is about psychadelics that theory of the pineal gland and the third eye maybe.

They also mention a dessert rose singing an unfamiliar song. Sounds like peyote to me?

Ministry - "filth pig"

one of the lines goes:
"i keep chasin' it's tail but the tail keeps getting bigger..go figure"

Mind you, during this time Al Jourgensen was smoking $500 worth of crack a day, and plus when he kicked his heroin habit in 2002 he had been on it over 20 years, talk about some harsh fucking WD's! :O jesus

That was Bill Withers, don't know how much he was into drugs. Pretty much any song about a lover could be reinterpreted to be about drugs, seems like a lot of myths get spread that way.
