Songs about drugs that no one knows are about drugs.

Okay this isn't a typical music/drug thread.

The La's - "There she goes" is about herion yet the general public thinks its a cutesy romantic comedy song.

I think this is ironic.

What other songs out there are like this?

I think semi-chamred life by Third-eye blind is one too.

Holy crap, I was about to post that earlier.... damn. I just assumed most people knew what it was about. Here's a list of some other heroin songs that some people might not realize:

Rolling Stones- "Dead Flowers"

Pink Floyd- "Comftorably Numb"

Lou Reed- "Perfect Day"

The Ramones- "Chinese Rock"

Elliott Smith- "Needle In the Hay" (Pretty apparent and yet some people still don't think it's about heroin..... even though Elliott Smith was known to indulge).

Velvet Undergroud- "Waiting For The Man"

Songs about other or unknown drugs:

Metallica- "Master of Puppets" (A lot of people assume it's about war as the rest of the album is but if you pay close attention to the lyrics, it's obvious.... "Chop your breakfast on a mirror").

Nine Inch Nails- "The Perfect Drug" (Most people know it's about a drug and usually claim it to be heroin but surprisingly enough it's about Absinthe).

David Bowie- "Ashes to Ashes"

How come you think it is smack? It can be anything, meperidine, fentanyl, ketobemidone, pentazocine, morphine, DHC, levorphan :p:p:p.

Actually that's "The Greatest Pac-Man Victory Ever"; just about every line in the song is an LSD reference.

i love nin and that never crossed my mind. i always thought the perfect drug could be either a person or a drug but he kept it vague on purpose...

what makes you think its absinthe?

Glad to meet a fellow fan. Check out the music video and you'll see why I suspect Absinthe ;) .

And yeah, I acutally was convinced that it was a girl ofor a while. Then I payed attention to the lyrics and thought it was heroin ("my blood wants to say hello to you".... so I was thinking IV). But the music video should satisfy your curiosity.

That's what i was thinkin... Just listen to the lyrics and it's obvious 8(
