Opioids sonchus oleraceus; for opium addiction?

My exgirlfriend has recently purchased a book about eastern traditional medicinal plants or something....

She called me to tell me about how the book mentions that sonchus oleraceus has been used for centuries to "cure" opiate addiction....

I very highly doubt it "cures", in fact, I know it doesnt, otherwise big pharma would be all over it....

But when searching for it online I have not found much info about its use and effects...

Anyone know of any info, or have any first hand experience about this medicine, lets discuss it....

I am just curious, and think this should be discussed as i havent found it discussed anywhere on bluelight yet, although I only searched for the search term "sonchus oleraceus" but figure that should have found it if it was mentioned anywhere on the site..., but i donno... so lets discuss

Just got this off wiki... "Sonchus oleraceus has a variety of medicinal uses.[5] Parts of the plant have been used variously to stimulate menstrual flow, alter liver function, stimulate fluid elimination, stall defecation, and to combat cancer, warts, inflammation and fever."

Maybe they used it because it detoxes you quicker and helps with the diahrea?

If you look a bit further than wiki, you will see it commonly listed specifically for use for opiate addiction, listed besides all those other symptoms from wiki and many others, but it doesnt say why or what attributes of the withdrawal it is specifically good for, or if its even for withdrawal, or rather for use after withdrawal etc.... its just very limited info is out there, from what searching I have done, but I am still very curious to hear anyones thoughts or experiences on this, or if there is anyone with medicinal plant knowledge via schooling etc that would care to share some info about this....

It is an invasive weed that grows in the majority of the world apparently, im not sure where the countries that have history of using it are....

Something that constipates you and reduces fever could certainly help withdrawal as these are two of the main side effects.

I dont think Pharma would be all over it either, if it cured opiate addiction. They make too much money off of people buying their opiates.

One thing I found about it is a bit troubling:

May be mildly toxic due to the large quantities of nitrates
